2005 coupe with 73000 miles. Anyone know, is it worth it to pay so much for K&N replacement filters instead of using the much cheaper ones? Performance wise? I know they will last longer, but better performance??? Also, I dont really see how paying 300 bucks for the entire cold air intake upgrade from K&N is worth it since thats pretty much what the LS2 has stock.??? Right???? Or am I completely wrong on this? Is the entire kit worth it? Thanks for any advice!
as a direct replacement, not in real life, maybe in a lab ? as part of a free breathing system yes, just BE CAREFULL WITH THE OIL when cleaning the filter, they will mess up a Mass in a HURRY.
Their claims of increased hp are somewhat unbelievable. I've never seen a dyno that proves the increases (at least in their advertising). I have one on my Impala SS and Tahoe because I didn't want to keep buying filters and in the long run it was cheaper for those applicable vehicles. My Corvette has the factory filtering system and I don't plan to change that.

I have the K&N CAI on my 05 Vette, I'll take a picture tomorrow and upload it at school, but I like it. It might not really do much for the performance, but hey, it's carbon fiber.
I use K&N's only because I hate buying filters and over the long haul I think it's less expensive
I really don't think there is much of performance gain, and as others have said be careful about ovr oiling and messing up the MAF.
I had a K&N on my '98 Trans Am and it had 327,000 km's (a iittle over 200,000 miles) on it when I sold. At that mileage it still did not use ny oil between oil changes and I drove the crap out of it. It bounced off the rev limiter on lapping days more than I care to admit.
