Default Header install question

Installing LG Super pros on my 07 Z51 car this week. How high do I need the car off the ground (jack stands) to do this? Found lots of good step by step write ups, but nothing on how much clearance I need to do this. Thanks for any advice.

I am old and fat, so I have stands like this and they work great.

Just finished mine last night, car comes off the stands this afternoon. They are set at 16" and are holding the car at the lower a arm where it attaches to the cradle. Good luck!

I think 16" was about where my 4 harbor frieght stands max'd out, & it was plenty of room when installing Pfadt headers into a '12 GS.

Thanks for the responses! I am on vacation starting tomorrow and this is my number one thing to get done. Then off for a re-tune and some spirited driving!

I installed my LG headers under jack stands. My car was about 16 inches off the floor.

It was an easy install even for a 64 year old like myself.

Even on the website if you look at the 6 ton model jack stands, it shows a corvette being supported by them.

I used an install guide on the PFADT website. They recommended 24" but i did it with about 18 with no issues. My driver side header went in with relative ease but i had to loosen the motor mounts and jack up the motor to install the passenger side header. It was well worth the work...just had my car tuned on Sunday

Me too. Have the "new clamps" but we will see. Worse case I will have my buddy do some welding at the joints. Or switch to Kooks.

I just installed the Kooks in my garage. Front wheels were on ramps and rear was on jack stands. The car was just high enough for me to go under on my crawler and sometimes my nose was scraping under the car. So that was not high enough. I'd say it was between 12 and 16 inches.

When you're under the car, you want to be able to work above you, not with your arms extended over your head like I was. It's really hard to install the cats and XPipe with your arms extended over your head!

I installed my long tubes JBA this past weekend on jack stands and they were not hard to install at all. I have some tall jack stands that i dont remember where i got them from.I just took my time, plus I had to geth the kooks x pipe modified at the collector are due the v-band type the headers use and slight length (1") discrepacy including welding.

My first real job 35 years ago, I sold jacks to NAPA, so I had 24" high ones and they make the job easier.

A couple months after I installed the headers, I bought a 4 post lift, if you live near Milwukee, come over and I will help you do it in my garge.

CRF450R,
How much power did your car make. Is this your first time dealing with Jeremy? I've always found him to be very knowledgeable even if he does hang around with Ford guys when he's here. That shot looks like the dyno at Keith's Pit Stop.

You are correct Sir....Keith's pit stop it is. It is my first tune with Jeremy and I am happy with the way my car is running.

It put down 385hp/388tq. All mods are listed in the video

I am in Vegas or I would be on my way over. Thanks for the offer. Car is up in the air, about 18" now. I seem to have plenty of room to work. Did a few things up top and will be underneath the car after dinner.
