Onstar tracking
If I unplug the power to the mirror does the Onstar tracking still work? I see a wire from the mirror to what I think is the antenna.
Thank you.

So no Onstar with the mirror unplugged?
Took my car in for service last week and they unplugged the mirror.
I know it didn't just fall out because someone reconnected my invisacord wrong.
I'll contact OnStar and get a tracking log from last week.
Thank you.

I think I better check again. The wire coming out of the mirror may not going straight to the antenna.
Time for me to get services manuals.

I'm pretty sure On-star tracks regardless of whether it's plugged in or not.

Thanks, I thought the power for the antenna went through the mirror. I'm pretty sure I'm wrong.

Just call and opt out. You know your car is not being tracked by the mirror light being off, not red or green. But even if your subscription expired, by accepting the initial offer you gave them the rights to track your car for 'research' (marketing is the more appropriate word) purposes. Again, just call and tell them you don't want your car tracked, and are opting out. That way, if you ever need it for whatever emergency, like if your car is stolen, quickly activate it with a phone call, and locate the car. With my Azera, 'bluelink' can also slow the car down and shut off the engine. Maybe OnStar can do the same; don't know. But for sure they can locate the car for the police.

How many miles did they put on the car? File a police report and ask the dective to get a copy of the logs.
