Default Suspension ???

If I wanted to eliminate the leaf springs and go to a "True" coil spring independent 4 wheel suspension how can this be accomplished?

I've read people installing coil over shocks is this the best was to do it?

As far as I know true coil overs are the only way to get rid of the leaf springs. I just put Pfadts on my car last year and I love them. It is a job that most competent mechanically inclined people can do. As long as you can get your car up on jackstands, it can be done at home. Just make sure to get a good alignment after you are finished.

For a "True" coil spring independent 4 wheel suspension, would you also have to remove the front & rear sway bars as well?

I'm not understanding the point. A "true coil" spring? Where would the shocks go? And what's the difference between a "true coil" and a coil over shock? Same parts needed, right? If there was someplace to mount a separate shock is there some theoretical benefit to separating the shock/spring, a la coil over? If I'm being dense, sorry. I just don't get it.

So we are talking about a system like I have on the front of my 98 Z28. Essentially it is a Strut with an upper A-frame that just sits on top of the strut. The A-frame is sandwiched in between the strut and the body.
