Hi!
I need some guidance. I am currently running stock rims on my C6. I am replacing rotors and pads (big rotors and brackets), i am having the calipers powder coated and finally i will be installing stock size and off set aftermarket rims. I don't do any track or racing (spirited racing once in a while) i am all about looks and performance even though i don't push my car to the limit. My question to y'all:
Can i put spacers to make and give the appearance of flush wheels to fenders? What sizes?-Someone had mentioned me 3/4 rear and 1/2 front- What brand should i consider or would you recommend? Any downside on putting spacers?
I truly thank you in advanced for your knowledge !
Most racing associations require lug thread engagement to be a minimum of the same dimension as the stud diameter for safety reasons. They require that for the DD who may only race once in his lifetime and for the professional. C6 Vettes have 12mm x 1.5 studs, so the easy to remember translation is 8 full turns from the start of engagement. So whatever spacers, adapters, and/or wheels you intend to use, keep the 8 turns in mind. Some lugnuts are threaded closer to the end than others and longer studs are available too, if the stock ones don't get the job done safely.
I know this is not a direct answer, but it needs to be a consideration in your planning.
You may not get an answer, because this is a 3 year old thread originally and it got dredged up last year again before you revived it again.
Check the dates of the last post in any thread where you want to ask questions. If it's more than 6 months old, it's a better idea to start a new thread.
As far as spacers are concerned, safety takes priority over appearance. Whatever you do, be sure you can get 8 full turns of the lugnut to tighten.
