Default 2007 Z06 Nav. Nuts

My OEM Nav never worked well. Now it's useless.

Driving home from a Corvette show, along I80, it wanted me to take a route way out of the way from a direct route home. (Setting was "Normal Route")

It does it all the time and is currently useless. I checked all presets and reset unit to "Defaults". No change.

Any ideas?? Just toss it and go aftermarket?? Suggestions?

Thanks, 2k

We've been using the factory nav for 7 yrs/100k miles, and it gives us good results.

Perhaps yours is actually broken, but usually problems like this are the result of something being set wrong. The trick is to find what's causing the problem.

CF member talon90 has a very good tutorial about using the nav, I figured ours out pretty well by myself but later downloaded the tutorial to my laptop and sat in the car while going through it. Use a battery charger so you don't kill the car battery...

We also have 2 Garmins and 4 cellphone navs and 2 different "other maker" factory navs, all of them do goofy things sometimes so don't expect perfection. But overall, I actually prefer our C6 factory nav.

Thanks for the info Gearhead.

I checked all settings and they were OK. I removed the NAV disk and it was pretty dirty. Will find out this weekend if cleaning it helped.

I also have a trusty Garmin which I bought "Refurbished". It cost less than an "Update" from GM. Free Traffic and map updates!

I used mine once back in 2008 when I got my car, and never again.

It totally sucks.

Nice waste of money.

Update:

NAV still nuts and when I was within .5 miles from our house, it indicated 5 more hours to drive.

I think I have a pricey paperweight.

Often, that's caused by a previous destination still existing, the system is trying to take you to that one and then to your "real" destination. Try selecting Route Options, then Cancel Guidance, then Agree. After that, start over and see if the times make more sense when you select 3 Routes after entering the destination.

Problem solved!

I replaced my Nav DVD with my old one and the thing worked perfectly.

Good!

Was there anything visibly wrong with the other DVD?
