I am buying a 2010 grand sport from Arkansas and bringing it to California. The owner put a set of kooks long tubes on it and a electric exhaust cut out for open pipes. As we know in Ca. Smog is everything. I did some research and have not seen a kooks CARB (Ca. Air resource board) approved header. The guy also removed the cats. So to be safe I found a set of ls3 manifolds and ls2 cats. Anyone know if the cats from the ls2 to the ls3 changed? Does anyone think I will have any issues with the swap out.

Well it just so happens I have both for sale if you are interested.
There are no CARB certified long tubes. You will need to go back to stock to pass inspection when you get here to CA. Your parts should work and you will also need a stock midpipe to replace whatever you have there now with the Kooks.

Now you know why I think Ca. "SUCKS" not you or the "average" person.. just the people who get elected and make laws that are a PIA to 99% of the people....
I will admit I did enjoy my drive down A1A from San Fransisco to San Diego
...the people I met were "tops" its just the "Tree Huggers" that put me out of joint...
BTW I think Ted Nugent, & Clint Eastwood are tops...Especially Ted...
But back "on topic" here in NY almost every Muscle car has headers and no one gets hasseled....

I hear you! The Left and Greens have taken over here and the result is an increasingly tighter net of regulations which is choking the life out of most of us.

If you grew up in Southern California as I did in the 40's and 50's you might be singing a different tune. The smog was so bad I would have a tough time breathing while riding my bicycle. You could see the smog just several blocks away. I was on the track team in school and we weren't allowed on the tract on smog alert days. Times have changed. No more smog alerts. You never see smog. I've always been a car guy and I cheated with my cars in the early days but it wasn't worth it in the long run. I like headers as much as the next guy but until someone gets a CARB authorization for short tube headers I guess I'm sol. Callaway had them early on but they didn't follow through with the certification and I don't think they even make them now.
