Battery goes dead.
First thing I did was check the charge voltage. All is fine there. Then battery base voltage and it was 9.7 (disconnected and left overnight of course) so I assumed a bad cell and replaced the battery. (I went slightly larger) I figured that was the end of that issue. To my surprise a couple weeks later, it happens again. Then a week or so later, again. I'm not certain but this seems to be happening intermittently. I haven't pinned down a maximum time to be at idle or other such variables as of yet.
I'm just about to begin the long process of tracing for something not shutting down so I thought I would browse the forum for known issues. but then I saw a post on this forum that C6's are known for this when not left in reverse. I have to admit that I do often leave it in 1st gear. Is this for real ?? I've never heard of a battery going dead due to the gear selection.
Thanks in advance for any pointers.
If you didn't already see it here's a long and pretty informative discussion on power off battery draw. The good info starts at post 77:

In fact reading through that thread made me remember how (on occasion) when I would forget my cell phone plugged in, I would walk into the garage (to get a beer or whatever) and I would hear the cell phone (out of the blue and sometimes repeated several minutes later) say "Charging" As you probably know, this phone warning happens at the moment power is being applied to the phone. Once plugged in, no more warnings normally. I never thought much of it. FWIW I wonder if this isn't a clue that the power to the accessory module is going on and off. Of course, once this battery problem started I stopped leaving the cell phone in the car.
Anyway, I just thought I would pass that on to you.
Thanks again for the lead. I looked all over the forum and had not run across the one you pointed out.
