Default Cam spec difference questions

Can someone explain the difference in sound, power, drivability and reliability of these two cams:

Katech Torquer:

220/244 110+4

Custom cam:

243/259 116

Thanks

The first cam is a mild/mid range cam. Will push the hp/torque curves nicely and probably have pretty nice driveability. Sound wise, you'll get chop/lope and it will have a nice "cammed" tone.

The second cam looks like a race grind. That's pretty large and aggressive. Probably has big top end power, but driveability will suck compared to the other one. What will it sound like? Like a big cam.

Great response! Shop says they can get both cams to drive near stock. Hmmm I wonder.

All in the tuning but that second cam would need a bump in compression.

The 116 LSA of the second cam. Should help with it's street manners with a good tune.

Do you have the lift of each cam?

What engine are these cams being considered for?

I am not sure what you mean by the lift of each cam. The cam is being considered for the LS7.

Cam lift is the distance your cam lobes pushes your lifters. It corresponds to your over all valve lift based on your rocker arm ratio.

Keep in mind a radically high lift cam will have a shorter life span than a lower lift cam because of the ramp rates.

I would ask to go for a test spin with either, stock manners with both of those cam's is something you might want to experience first hand.

You may also request that you drive, cranky cams can be driven around by the owner
