Default Window Switch Covers

Hello All:

I purchased my 2006 Corvette a couple months ago with 21k miles on the clock. It is basically perfect, with the exception of a few very minor details. One of them I would like to correct is that the window switch covers do not stay on the switches correctly. It appears they are held on with two plastic tabs, one of which is broken on each of my switches. The result is that if I accidentally push down a little too hard when rolling down the windows, the switch pops off. Just kind of bothers me.

Does anyone know if this part can be ordered separately from GM? I am looking online at GMPartsHouse.com, and I found a part called "Release Switch" (labeled part 12 on the diagram below). There is a left and a right version of it, but they are getting $21.61 each for them, which seems kind of high so I'm wondering if it is the whole switch?

Please see the below picture showing my switch to give you an idea of what I am talking about. Thanks for your help.

Interesting. Don't recall seeing that issue before. I don't know the answer.

I suggest any time you have a question about some obscure piece like that, it's best to just call gmpartshouse or partstaxi and talk to someone who knows how to look up and interpret the parts.

Please let us know how it turns out.

I have exactly the same problem. Very annoying!
So, I'm interested to know the part number too...

I took another look at the part you listed and #12 is the door release switch. Looks like they do not list the window switch part separately from the actual window switch unit (#16 = $74).
I'm considering some epoxy glue to fix mine. I've also considered looking in a junk yard for another Chevy of same year: my 2003 Chevy pickup switches are very similar. Just saying...

You need part 14 not 16. It is all one unit. Take the housing off (carefully so you don't dent/scratch the pleather...) and there's one plug you have to disconnect.

Part 16 is the housing, part 14 is the electronic piece that gets secured in the housing that has the window and outside mirror buttons.

$21.61.......Must be your first Vette? When this is over you'll wish that's all it would cost. Your in the big leagues now when it comes to repairs.

by the way, part 12, the release switch, is the button you push to open the door, not the part in your pic thats broken....
