No communication between computer and driving systems problem
Here is background:
2005 C6
Ran fine up until about 2 months ago. Problem with no start. Replaced BCM ... problem came back. Replaced steering column lock device .... problem went away.
Car ran fine for up until few days ago.
Was getting on it (up to 5k rpm), tires started slipping so abs kicked in (active handling) ... then got message: reduce power (I assume limp mode thing) ... then car shut off and will not start since.
Guy at shop says BCM, PCM and ABS system is not communicating with computer and visa versa. He put in my old BCM he replaced .. still same issue.
He went through each system to check for wire chaffing, etc ... nothing found.
I would assume he checked that ... but ya never know ... will find out. thx
I think one of the most important things we have learned on this forum is the battery is the heart of the C6. If it's old and low most anything can have issues. Remember there is only one way to test a battery and that's with a load tester.

Anyone experience something like this before?
The BCM, ECM, EBCM, VCIM and ESC modules are all connected together by the GM High Speed LAN. The type of incident you describe sounds like something wrong in the ECM throttle control circuits (gas pedal, throttle body, ECM, wiring). When something happens in the throttle control circuits TC is turned off and you start getting Service Messages. Is the Check Engine Light lit?

I really feel for you. I have been going through this with my 09. SAH/STC. As the others have said, battery is the first place to start. Next, pull the codes and see what the culprit might be, but it might point you to the wrong thing. In my case it was the TCM that was pointed to, but that seemed to be a false lead. There was a code that stated that the GM LAN was shutdown. Turned out that I had a Dashtronix plugged into the ODB port. As soon it was unplugged, the troubles stopped. The Dashtronix folks were kind enough to provide me a brand new unit, and nothing has occurred since. They extensively tested the old unit I sent in and found nothing wrong! So I still don't know if I still have a problem or not!
The computers are the Achilles Heal of these cars.
I purchased a ACTRON Code reader JUST FOR THIS KIND OF ISSUE!
Unless you read and post the DTCs, it’s going to be an expensive crap shoot on what’s wrong.
The DTCs will help us guide you to the correct area and maybe pin point the issue.
Find a scanner that is CAN Bus compliant, reads rear time sensor data, and can data log the PCM. I have the ACTRON CP9180 (since superseded) but, there are even more advanced ones out there.
Got mine on AMAZON.com for a LOT less than local parts store.
If you are going to keep this C6 for a while, you can’t “ INEXPENSIVELY” fix the car without a code reader / scanner!! You will also need a good easy to use digital AD/DC Volt Ohm Amp meter.
