Checked the fluid and it was was overfilled. Removed some, turned the wheel lock to lock several times, and now its a bit less difficult to turn, but I dont know what else it could be.
I like light quick precise steering. I only had the rack replaced because it had some slop that I couldnt trace to the tie rods, and have been having a clacking sound on hard turns that I figured this might help (still getting the sound). Now I have heavy slow precise steering... maybe I should just start lifting weights?
on the up side there isnt a dead zone in the wheel, and the aluminum drm bushing i had added in place of the rubber one did add more road feel.

new rack or rebuilt? could be wrong one, poor rebuild job with leaking seals. maybe even a used rack if you wern't looking.
clacking? sounds like bad pump. have friend turn wheel and listen at pump, hood open.
What does magnasteer do unplugged? find out!
i modified my c3 for easy steering! love it! 3# now, was 7# parking. Use fish scale on wheel rim parked to put a # on it. Then u sound like a pro.

rack was a rebuilt unit from cardone. luckily (if the seals start to leak) the rack has a lifetime warranty.
ill try disconnecting the connector to see if there is a difference, however I think the ps is working; just something needs adjustment...
the clacking have been dealing with is only on hard turns (quick abrupt turns and high g-load spikes) - it seems almost impossible to narrow down where the sound is coming from - but apparently its not the rack.
Just checked the FSM a Magnasteer code will cause the DIC to display Service Steering. If you see the message and check the codes with a scanner that can read ABS codes C0450 should show up. Are you sure you got the correct rack for a Corvette? You have to be very careful with parts these days as the suppliers are somewhat confused on what parts fit what car properly.

I got one of those and tried to put it in when I had the car torn down and the entire drive line out. I gave up because it is impossible to do without removing the rack for the car. Basically, you have to drill out the hole where the factory bushing was.

yep the rack looked the same and I checked the manufacturer - they had a different # for the newer cars. no codes thrown either...

just took some sandpaper and a rubber mallet for me... the paint was the only thing stopping the bushing from going in smooth, but yeah having the rack out made it easier.

right on the top of the rack - you can reach it from above the engine if you lean over from the passenger side and look down at the rack toward the driver side

The steering system was revamped considerably for 2008 and later, our 2009 is much lighter and more precise than our previous 2006.
The 2008/later parts can't be used in your 2007, the engineers said it would be impractical and possibly even dangerous.
The good news is that replacement racks from GM, for the 2005-2007 cars, were built to the new tighter tolerances, and so you should get some improvement from a new 2007 rack, if they can be found. Not sure about a rebuilt.
I know you've checked, but is it still possible that you got the wrong rack "for the newer cars", instead of an improved rack designed for yours?
