replacing hood supports
Opened the hood this morning to replace the cabin filter on my 07. Hood will not stay up. I hear no hood gas support noise, don't remember if I ever did. When replacing the struts do I just remove the clips on both ends and pull off? Looks to be an easy fix just need a helper to hold the hood up.

Yea, haven't done it but seems easy based on what's been reported here. One member posted that his research found the best price at Advance Auto, about $32 each I think. Here's one write-up if interested:

Actually, the reverse can be argued. When they are not used much, the rod gets dry and dirty, then when used once, the seal is stressed by the dry rod. The seal is the key to the whole operation. These struts are the same as struts used on almost every car in the world...they are an established technology so are not something that will be 'fixed' on the C7.
It's a little like automotive air conditioning. The worst thing for it is to not be used...the seals dry out if the freon and oil is not circulated through the system. When seals dry out and shrink, the freon can leak out gradually. Same with the struts on the hood, trunk, hatch etc etc. The heat from the engine probably doesn't make things any easier on them either.
