Default Grinding going into 2nd gear

I have a 2007 M6 Z51 and have noticed that going into 2nd gear it grinds, even when I am at a complete stop. Is this the start of my clutch going? My Vette has 46k. Thanks in advance for the help.

I think 2nd gear is a pain for most manual Vettes. I have issues sometime getting mine into 2nd gear, but as long as I pull it toward me at a angle, it goes into gear every time.

I would check your shifter bushings, mine were worn out and I was having the same issue, I replaced them and shifting is much better!!

It is either this or the syncro's in the transmission. The syncro's in the transmission wearing out are very common and sometimes with far less miles than you have. If it's the syncro's you will have the get the tranny rebuilt. If you go that route do RPM level hardware when you do it.

It's not as bad as it sounds. Just cost a little bit of money. Good luck.

Does it do it at all temps?

Both my 2006 and 2008 cars have had a hard time going into 2nd gear when cold....once they warm up it shifts completely fine.

If you are having a hard time with it still.....and it is only that gear, then you have something inside going out, and typically yes it would be a syncro.

If you havent changed out the fluid your clutch fluid resevoir, I would suggest you do that.

Look up the ranger method and follow that procedure before doing anything else.

Its a cheap procedure and may help with the problem.

Good Luck

This has helped many people with this problem and is very inexpensive to do.
