Default Paddle shift display on dash won't display

Had it come on once in the past several months, but not since. Paddles are working fine, but no display regarding what gear I'm in?

On mine the number will not come up when you are in S mode until you hit one of the paddles to shift up or down. I am not sure if it appears in every HUD mode - I tend to stick with the same one.

If your car has HUD, it should display on the HUD in street mode once you used the paddles. But I think the HUD must be in street mode.

Do you have the HUD/Nav combo?

If so, it only shows up on the DIC(dash) if you have the navigation leading you to a destination.

If not, its always in the HUD. I run mine in track mode and you can always see the gear once you start using the paddles. Not sure about street, just got the car.

Just checked the street mode too. It will show the gear once its engaged aka you start using the paddles.

I had it show up on the dash one time. Have not checked the HUD. According to the manual it should show on the dash? Has not showed up but once on the dash and not since? I have 2007 model. I do have the HUD and Nav option.

Put a destination in the nav then switch to S mode. Once you start shifting you should see it.

Thinking about Ur reply... I have to put a destination in the Nav to get the paddle shift to show a display on the dash? Doesn't make a lot of sense, but will follow Ur instructions. Obviously U know more than I. Thanks again.

IIRC, the paddle gear disappears from the HUD, and appears on the DIC, only when the HUD is actually showing a turn instruction (which obscures the gear readout there).

Mine work for about 4 miles, which involved several turns? Than not again? I do see it on the HUD display.
