Default Accelerator pedal Question

Okay want to know if anyone has had this problem. When i cruise my vette acts funky. It will all of a sudden stop holding steady like i let off the accelerator and when i accelerate at a nice easy pace the car seems to stumble over itself or jerk. Randomly it feels like i have dead spots where it will do nothing and i have to let off then press it againd it works. I randomly get service traction control system and dont have a tool to pull the code. I'm assuming its the pedal but want to make sure its not something else in the system. I'm assuming this because i can use my cruise control and it runs perfectly fine with no issues and ive check all connections and other items in the system and they are fine but not sure if im missing something. Also if someone could direct me to a how to remove/install the pedal if that is the issue that would help. THANKS in advance for the assistance.

It could very well be the pedal. But you really should try to get the codes. Autozone and like stores often offer the code read service free. Just a suggestion. If it's the pedal you will likely see P2138.

As for removing the pedal, it's just 2 bolts and unplug the connector.

Speaking of the connector, some members have found success in removing the connector, checking the pins and wiring for corrosion and if none found, clean it and reinstall it and make sure it's securely seated and locked. That may solve the problem.

Another possibility can be found here:

Good luck and let us know what happens.

try cleaning the throttle body good, WASH THE H... out of it. also get MASS cleaner and wash it out good and let it dry. do this first and check all your clamps.

Went through all of this and nothing worked. I cant pull the code the only one is saying i have a short in my fuel sending unit which i have had since i got the car but cannot find the problem with that even after dropping tanks replacing units and checking to make sure the sending units worked with my multimeter. I thought it was mass or tps but the car runs fine on cruise control but i cannot use the accelerator pedal to hold it steady and cruise. Well imma pay the 100 for a new pedal and if that doesnt work then imma just blow up the car and get the insurance money since they valued it at 29,000 and i paid way less.

a couple of years ago i had a similar problem that would one happen about once every couple of days so i hooked up 2 multi meters. 1 on the throttle and 1 on the pedal until i saw the voltage drop on the meter attached to the pedal. no codes were ever set. i went to the dealer paid my $100 and swap it out in the parking lot, 5 minutes later I drove off and had not had any more problems. from what i understand this was a GTO and LS2 corvette problem ?

good luck

I don't know if you're asking a question or not but FWIW (I know, not much) it was a fairly common issue here for C6's but, not so much since about '09. Don't know if that means anything.

Nice job diagnosing your issue.

Thanks. I am a gear head and started very young. I was brought up on the old classic stuff. Im also a Vehicle mechanic in the Air Force and been through a few advance classes, one being troubleshooting electronics, so i know my way around newer cars somewhat. Sadly im only 23 and building up my tool set right now and scan tool/tuning software is next on my list.

Col_Delarmente...
If you end up needing a gas pedal send me a PM.... I was having a similar issue and replaced the gas pedal, but it turned out to be a faulty throttle body...
That said, I have a spare gas pedal in my garage I can sell you cheaper than brand new........

bumping this issue. I've noticed this as well - could be a symptom of my cold air intake but am currently investigating. Its strange because I can feel when its going to hestitate and it seems to do so at the same exact spot on the accelerator. It acts as though i've come off throttle and cuts fuel (as referenced from my wideband). Will report back if i figure anything out...
