I didn't mean to suggest that I was interested in a crappy header. I was just trying to understand why the coating isn't offered more often on the stainless steel. If the feedback here would have suggested that coated soft steel header is pretty much identical to coated stainless steel, then I might have leaned towards a coated soft steel for much less money. However, the feedback seems to suggest that a high quality "uncoated stainless steel" header from Kooks or ARH or Pfadt is ideal. And if I feel like spending more money on coating, it might be slighty more desirable (for heat and appearance).

I'll take my TriY's over any other available headers. Build quality, installation ease, looks and performance make them a great purchase.

As everyone else will take there's over most others. The way you describe yours are the exact same as the 3 most bought ...KOOKS, LG and ARH.

I've had the coated dynatech headers installed since 07. They still look perfect.

Its hard for me to recommend a coating to anyone when there are so many sub-par coatings and coating companies out there. Its important to remember that the application of the coating is just as important as the actual coating. I don't want to see our headers with poorly applied coatings that may shorten the life of the header. Hope that helps,
I (and countless others running Pfadts) can be an objective third party to corroborate this. I am running PFADT headers on my C6 and the build quality of these things are head and shoulders above the rest. Ceramic coating is a "nice to have" but IMHO unless you're worried about turbo heat-soak they are not necessary... and definitely not worth the potentially harm that poor ceramics can present to a set of otherwise great headers.

Just go buy some Pfadts and take comfort in knowing you got the best

Before I decided on Melrose Motorsports Smooth Flow ceramic coated headers, I did a lot of research.

The consensus among an number of exhaust fabbers is that the best header combination is mild steel with a good quality thermal coating, rather than stainless. This is because stainless steel headers have a tendency to crack near the welds. Mild steel headers are lighter than stainless, and not as brittle.

Melrose Motorsports Smooth Flow ceramic coated headers have the coating on the inside & out. My experience was they fit great, and never discolor, meaning they look the same one year old as one day old.

No disrespect but how could it even be possible to fully ceramic coat inside of tubing headers and how would you even know if it was properly done for complete coverage. If it was possible to correctly do why would other header mfgs not do the same.

I will be another one to tell you that with the quality of the 304 brushed stainless Pfadt headers, you really don't need any ceramic coating applied to them ... just a big waste of money if you do.

But, if you still feel the need for a coating ... send them to JetHot (but it ain't going to be cheap).

Design is another important consideration.
How close in length R the tubes?
Do they step the headers 4 your HP and TQ?
Where do they step them?
How well do they meet the heads? Match ?
How do the tubes join? Size out to exhaust?
Do they help U with the correct exhaust size?
Beauty over function or function over beauty?
Ceramic helps with HP & TQ.Helps with flow and
heat. Shoot a temp gun at them 20 minutes after
stopping the difference is amazing.
