A used LS3 motor (with 3100 miles on it out of a 2012 Camaro)
Changing the relucter,
Getting a new intake manifold (will get it ported)
Labor for everything I will have done
I'm thinking of adding a cam while the new motor is out of the car.. might save some $ on labor..the car already has Kooks headers, & a 2800 converter..
Bottom line I'm looking at $7000 + + barring something unexpected pops up...
Sorry to see it let go like that, but as you mentioned fortunately it wasn't at the track and on the bright side it will be faster. I'd definitely consider doing a small cam since you already have the converter and headers.

If you don't, you will always be thinking about it. Before you choose a cam if you decide to go that route. I would consider a PM to the Spin Monster just to see what he thinks.
OK, thought that was what it was. I haven't heard about GM 1.8 rockers.
I installed the Vinci Crane Quick Lift rockers, 1.8 ratio.
There were three major reasons I opted to install rocker arms over a cam. Vinci Crane Quick Lift pros:
●Better geomentry then the competition (SLP) for better results.
●No interference with stock valve covers.
●Stiffer pushrods are also included in the Crane kit, as experience has shown that the stock soft pushrods are one of the LS-series engine's weak links.
●First CNC machined from super strength alloy, then treated with their "Mikronite" process to increase strength and durability by reducing stress-riser cracks and surface inclusions.
If you gonna put cams in, cost doesn't stop after factoring in with correct length push rods, quality rocker arms and springs installed. You will still have the endless cost for spring change outs to tack on your budget. To stay on the safe side, that works out to be about every year or no more than 15k miles, if you want your motor to live.
If you are not capable to do your own work and I am the speedshop that do your work, I will give you a real deal for the initial work, because you will be back! More power adder goodies = more cost in maintenance.

Your experience with dyno is why I never care for the HP number game and stress my motor on dyno in fear of what can happen.

But you are not me and you only live once! So what, you have got to pay to play. Go for it, enjoy the power!
