Torque tube removal
Hello all, new to this forum. I have a 2006 and want to know how to romove the torque tube from the trans. I have it all out of the car and the bolts removed that pair the two together, I even romoved the steel alignment pins, but cant seem to seperate the two. Is there something I need to remove? Thank you

Jokes aside, once you've pulled all the bolts between the trans and rear torque tube bellhousing, they simply come apart. The transmission pulls away from the tube and takes its mainshaft with it, leaving just the exposed female splined end in the torque tube. If all the bolts are out, secure the trans or the tube and rock the other side to side to get a little space between the mating surfaces. From that point, you can get a prybar in there and finish up.

That said, is this removal for a drivetrain failure by chance? If you bent/broke anything in the trans, there's a possibility the mainshaft is wedged into that torque tube in some sort of shear load, causing extra friction.
