Ive been toying around with the idea of swapping out my t56 for an auto in my 05 vette. I am curious as to what it will consist of and what parts i need. Obviously i will need the auto tq tube and transmission. What modifications would need done to the car to make it work and what tranny would be good to swap to? I also would like to have a reverse manual valve body if that would be able to happen. Any info would be appreciated.

This question comes up frequently and the consensus answer seem to be that it doesn't make sense economically. The parts required/ the labor and time involved make it very expensive to do and you end up with a car that's really difficult to sell later,
If you really want an A4/C6 the sell your M6 and buy one or trade your M6/C6 for an A4/C6. According to most sources the M6 is worth more than the A4.
I don't recall anyone here ever doing it. It has been asked many times but not followed through, AFAIK.
I don't know if it requires a new ECM or just reprogramming. I don't know if the BCM can be modded/reprogrammed and if using an '05 A4 trans that requires it's own TCM.
I think RPM has done it but not sure. Might be worth a phone call to ask and maybe offer to pay for a consult.
Good luck with it. If you do it, please let us know and maybe post a DIY thread with pics, procedures and pitfalls.
contact howard tanner at redline motorsports. he has a C6 i believe Z06 that he put an A4 in. i heard there was a lot of underbody that had to be modified
We have done many 4L60E and 4L80E swaps in the Corvette chassis. We've pretty much got the recipe pretty much nailed at this point.
The new trans is controlled from a stand alone controller which we tie into the factory one so they can share information. Which trans is really based upon what the power levels will be and how hard you plan on driving the car.
This is my personal car that has an 80 in it....hasn't skipped a beat;

Thanks for the info, it definatly sounds more involved that i was thinking...I was thinking if it could be done fairly easy if i wanted the tranny to be all manual valve body. the car is h/c and a 200 shot and is raced 95% of the time on the street.
