Beginner Mods
I'm about to sell my '10 camaro rs and get a 07 or 08 vette. I know all about modding those but nothing about the corvettes. If you had a 1-2K mod budget on a stock c6 how would you spend it?

If you buy the 07 with the "LS2" then I would recommend a FAST 102 Intake Manifold and with either year, I would recommend a set of headers and of coarse a dyno tune. Granted these mods are not cheap, but they will give you some extra HP/TQ without opening up the motor. Good luck with your mods!

Im a little less than an hour away from Houston. I see that mods for the corvette are much more expensive than the ones for a Camaro. (I bought headers for under 700, everything ive seen is over 1000 here.) Headers and a cold air intake are in the plan for sure.

Personally I'd spend the $1-2K to get a 2008, which has the LS3 engine and 30 more HP than the 2007 LS2. Then I'd drive it stock for a while to see if I even want to mod it.

Fast 102 intake - $830
Vararam - $285
Nxt Step axle back - $699
Put down 403/408 with those mods and sounds like a beast.

Find a 2008 with NPP exhaust and you will have 436 hp and 428 ft./lbs of torque, that's 36 hp and 28 ft.lbs of torque more than a 2007. Also, starting in 2008 they were many upgrade changes made including: transmission, steering, interior trim, engine, etc.

LG super pro headers with a CAI and tune will start you off just fine. If you have money left still, get borla stingers/atak or B&B bullets as a axle back and you will turn heads with the sound. I would save the $1k for the 102 since it won't be such a dramatic increase in power. 
You need more mods to really benefit from a 102 intake manifold ie Heads/cams although you will see decent torque gains in the mid rpm range without the H/C.

How about the L92 heads and L76 Intake to top that bad boy off? I've seen members get all the parts for around 2k with decent power gains and you can sell your old parts to get some of your money back.

Historically, axle backs will do nothing significant other than - you're correct - for turn heads purpose!

I'm inclined to agree with the LS3 recommendation - better starting point. After you drive it a while, then decide how to spend. I know that modding is not a necessity for the car, it's a necessity for us...it's something in the bloodstream. My boys talked me into the newer drivetrain and I'm really glad they did. My GS runs very well - I can't wait to violate the factory warranty!
