Thinking of putting on a set of headers for my 2012 GS Auto. What recommendations would you guys have? Also, any of you do the install yourself? Any tips for the do it yourselfer?
I bought a used set of Stainless Works headers and full exhaust for mine.
Got the entire system for less than half what new would cost.
Come to think of it... just about every single mod done to my car came from the classified section on this site.
There is absolutely NOTHING that can be mechanically "worn out" on a set of stainless pipes.
The entire system went on the car with zero hassle.
I got the car up as high as the jackstands would go... and slipped the headers right into place from underneath the car. There was no need to pull the starter or any other components. Just removed the OEM stuff and swapped-in the SW stuff.
Just don't forget the O2 sensor harness extensions.

One word - Pfadt. I have seen and installed all kinds of headers on various vehicles over the years. I have never seen better quality workmanship and the fit of these headers is superb. I did the install all by myself, without any help, in my garage with basic hand tools. The hardest part was getting the O2 sensors from the stock manifolds. And the power (after a retune) and sound is awesome.
LG headers, great build quality, you cant go wrong. i have the 1-7/8 since im supercharging it with new heads, 1-3/4 is great if you are doing some mods.

Thanks.
+1 for the SW headers. The 3/8" thick flanges for a leak proof no gasket needed seal, we supply the RTV silicone and the O2 extension harness for easy installation. Also notice the smooth mandrel bends that allow the most flow along with our slip fit connection which makes for tons of usable power throughout the entire RPM range. Choose an 1-3/4" primary for basic bolt on such as cold ait intake and tune or pick the 1-7/8" for most available HP/TQ with plenty of room for additional bolt-ons such as heads, intake, throttle body, tune, converter, etc...
You definitely should check out Billy Boat Performance Exhaust long tube headers for C6. B&B headers are precision crafted from CNC mandrel bent T304 stainless steel tubes. Headers are TIG welded to prevent burn through and to ensure exhaust passages are smooth and free allowing. Exhaust tubes are arranged in a 3”, 4-into-1 merge collector so that exhaust pulses maximize scavenging. We incorporate header technology/design we learned from racing. Each header is manufactured by hand to ensure a perfect fit every time. B&B headers provide dyno proven horsepower and torque gains. Made in the USA and backed by a limited lifetime warranty. Thanks for the replies, seems the preferences are varied. I guess that all give similar HP gains? I have read that if you go too big, without the corresponding equip installs, that you can actually lose torque? I don't plan, at least right now, to do any cam or head changes.
yes, going too big you will lose torque, if your not planing on huge $$$ power mods, than take a look at 1-3/4" headers, they will give the added boost in power you want along with plenty torque to get you moving from either a dead stop or on the highway making quick lane change.
We're an American Racing Dealer, they build a quality product in the US and are pretty easily installed. If you would like them done though, let me know and I'd gladly send you a quote.
OP: Just to give you a heads up, after you install your headers and perform a dyno tune, your GM dealer may void or decline your warranty. If you already know that, then proceed and enjoy!
Woodstoc, I see you are from Texas, I spent about 8 months there in Lackland then onto Wichita Falls for USAF Aircraft Mechanic tech school. I love that state!!!
GM, Ford, and Chrysler run ARH on there Factory built race cars (they all reached out and asked for the best header from multiple sources, we are HONORED to be chosen for these programs)
Camaro Copo
Ford Cobra Jet
Dodge Challenger Dragpack
If we can help you in the decision process, please give the shop or call or call me directly.
Absolutely, I've been part of the ARH team since 2008 installing "ON SIGHT" at Corvettes at Carlisle. Working with Nick(co-owner of ARH) and Phil(Lead fabricator/Installer), I've gained insight and technique on how to install the system.
I'm here on the forums for tech support and via phone 7 days a week. With well over 200 installations on the C5/6 platforms, I can get you to the next step and get the installation complete.

Designer Imagines A Corvette That Looks More Like a Corvette Than the Corvette
Slideshow: A Jaguar designer's personal project imagines what a modern front-engined Corvette might look like if Chevrolet revisited the golden age of the Stingray.
