Default Cost for clutch install

I'm thinking of replacing my clutch this winter and was wondering what a reasonable shop should charge for the job? Any experience?

It's going to run you anywhere between 400 - 700 dollars depending on the shop.

Go ahead and replace the master / slave and get a remote bleeder while you're at it.

I was quoted $1000 and 1100 at 2 shops. I went ahead and bought 6 ton jackstands to raise the car 24", and bought the 7 or 800lb rated tranny jack, all from NorthernTool. For $300 in tools I didn't have I was able to do it with the help of a friend. I see why they charge the money but in the end, like most jobs, it's not that bad. The next time will go twice as quick. Definitely add the bleeder.

We charge 1k For clutch install.... 4-700 is very cheap.. It really depends on your area. MAKE sure you bring it to someone who has done a bunch before.

Best to buy a good 13mm universal socket to reach the bolts at the top of the bell housing too. Let's not forget how much a PITA reconnecting the clutch slave line is too... Good DIY project!

I've been quoted 4-700 by numerous places in the area, some of them are vendors on this site... just fyi.

I was quoted $750 in labor at a reputable shop in Cincinnati.

I'd be extremely leery of someone willing to do a Corvette clutch for $400. They either enjoy working for minimum wage or aren't offering a quality service.

We charge $650 for a stock exhaust car and $800 if it has longtubes.

I don't know if I would call Tick Performance "non-quality service" but that's just me.

Hey, if they're willing to do that job for $400 then good on them. That's a LOT of work for 400 bucks....
