You'd have to reprogram it. Or keep your old tires in the rear. Some have taken the TPS sensors and put them in a pressurized PVC pipe in the rear compartment.

Straight line and normal driving I don't think its a probelm. But on the road course it sucked. Couldn't turn off active handling and it was being overly aggressive on the road course.

So we could skip the TPMS sensors in the new DR wheel / tire setup for strip purposes then.....

Yeah. The worst it does is throw the TPMS light on the dash and you can't cycle active handling anymore via the button, just traction on/off.

Now dad wants to use either the front or rear OEM gumby wheels that came on the come originally and put some DR's on them for rear service. I believe the front wheels are 18X8.5/+56 & the rears are 19X10/+79. A search concluded that neither MT ETS 2 or Nitto NT05R have a suitable 275 through 305 width size that will fit the narrow 18x8.5 front wheel (unless I missed something or if I am wrong, tell me), (maybe the 285/40R18 will fit on the 18x8.5 ??)
So, that means we need to use the rear wheels at 19x10. A search concluded that we could fit a Nitto NT05R in 305/35R19 on that rear wheel or a MT ETS 2 in 305/35R19.
Questions are:
1. Will the 305/35R19 rub the wheel wells?
2. Grip of this rear setup? Considering the consensus among posters on this thread is that more sidewall is more desireable.
3. If you have used this 305/35R19 set up for DR please comment on if the setup works ok.
4. Any other comments welcome.

I am learning a lot about this situation through this process and am trying to educate my dad too, so I appreciate you feedback and patience. Thanks.
I'd recommend a 265/40r18 over a 305/35r19 as the sidewall height is identical, but you still have a shorter/lighter wheel/tire combo...though it still wouldn't be as fast as a 275/40r17

I'm also interested in an 18" tire.. right now I'm using MT 305/35x18" they are 26.6 overall diameter..

Could you please tell me what is the "overall" diameter of the 265/40x18" I DON'T want to go to a taller tire (i.e. 28") it would kill my overall gearing.. (I am 3.15 now)

Looks like 26.5" diameter for 265/40/18.

We have definitely decided on 17x9.5 C5Z front wheels wrapped in Nitto NT05R's
Discount tire direct had a pretty good price. Two wheels & tires, mounted and balanced, ready to bolt on for $650 shipped plus tax.

They would show up mounted & balanced, ready to bolt on and go.

If we skip the TPMS sensors for this DR setup, will it cause any glitches with the car or will there just be an annoying light on??

Figured this might be a good way start off with a DR setup without spending a bundle.

Dad ran an 11.50 last fall on PS2 ZP's in the stock narrow body size so if he can hit high 10's he would be happy.

Thanks.
We have ran the Z from May through December without sensors and had no issues. This car is street driven. The light would come on and the only other mode it would allow is Traction Off.

Sounds good, but the Nittos are less sticky than the M/T which are less sticky than the Hoosiers...so hope the track prep is good, but they will last longer

For others who are reading this, an auto C7 just cut a 1.41 60' on a 305/35r19 M/T which is the best I've heard on that tire and find impressive

Figured the Nittos would be a good place to start for the price.

I don't know if this was mentioned before, but this is a great write up on traction for high hp cars. I have it bookmarked .

Great things about the Nitto 555R2 tire. Handling and traction, you may want to check it out if you guys want to go that route.

Excited to see how it goes, keep us updated.
