I have a ZO6 filter housing on my LS3 with the baffle cut & sealed to the ZO6 housing for cold air. If someone is willing to donate their time & dyno with experience strapping down C6's to run the tests in Maryland I would be willing to let my car be dyno to see what filter/no filter makes the most hp. I think most Corvette forum members would be interested to see the results.
The tests:
1) OEM housing only (no filter)
2) OEM housing with ZR1 filter
3) OEM housing with Big Blue (aftermarket high flow OEM replacement cotton gauze filter).

All done back to back (No Tuning).
Anyone with a dyno PM me if interested.
I did pretty much this same thing a few weeks back but it was at the track.
Using the OEM housing I picked up a full 1/2 tenth by going from the ZR1 filter to Attack Blue but saw no additional gains by taking out the element completely.

Thanks; I tried the Attack Blue against the LS7 filter at the track a while ago with no improvement. Maybe I'll give it another try.

Yeah, it definitely did work as I went from ZR1 to Attack Blue and then back to ZR1 again. There was also more airflow too as the MAF readings were noticeably higher in my HPT scans, something you might not necessarily see on a dyno.

With putting the ZR1 filter back on and seeing the loss again you just talked me into giving it another try but the
Attack Blue and no filter results (same) really got my attention! Thanks for the follow-up!!
Well, I went to the track and made some passes on the ZR1 filter than some passes on the attack blue filter; and during the process kicking according to him the ZL1 stock record holder's a$$ who set a new stock record (11.60) that day.
In looking over the time slips & taking everything into consideration including 60 fts. etc. it does look like the attack blue filter "may" be worth .04/.05 I did get my highest MPH with the attack blue (122.37) a little over a 1/3 of a MPH higher.
I will leave the attack blue in for a while and see how it performs. I have gone 122.75 mph with the ZR1 filter but that was a different day earlier in the year.
PS: Ever since I installed the "heavier" BridgeStone runflats than the OEM Goodyears, I believe the rears weigh 4 lbs. more each and the fronts 2 lbs. more each than the Goodyears I feel it's slowed my car up buy a tenth or so. I "may" of set a new GS bolt-on record with at lease better 60 fts if I was running the OEM Goodyears that day.

Well, I like the idea, but first tune the base car. Then re-tune after each air filter/kit install.
My guess would be the higher CFM filters the more the tuned gain, unless the intake architecture was botched.
Anyone know the max CFM the stock LS3 can use without mod'ing the intake/TB?
