Default Oil temp sensor

Does anyone know exactly where the oil temperature sensor sending unit is located on a 2013 GS Manual trans dry sump engine.

The engine oil temperature sender is located at the bottom of the dry sump tank.

Thanks for the info........that really helps. I'm trying to figure out the oil temp. concerns on these engines, weather it's too low or not in the colder months.

I'l save you some time: IT IS . I only see 140s in winter here in TX, where it doesn't even get that cold (and no, I don't subject the car to WOT at those temps). If you live up north, you might search for threads that explain how to block the oil cooler to prevent too-low oil temperatures. GM changed the Z06 oil cooler to a coolant-to-oil design in 2012, rather than air-to-oil, like all GSs. I think ZR1s have had the coolant-to-oil since the beginning, but am not sure. I probably prefer mine here in hot TX, but I wouldn't want the oil any cooler than it gets now. If I lived up north, I'd definitely do something about it. Good luck man.

Default Normal operating temperature for oil for 09 Z06

I just drove my new to me 09 Z06 cross country. In open desert on I-40 85/90 through Nevada, 90°+ outside temp, the oil temp never got over 176° .
Is that normal?
I understand that the oil temp sensor is in the oil tank- maybe the actual engine oil temp is nearer 217-225° like my other 427, that isn't a dry sump?
Anyone with experience with daily driving operating oil Temps?
Thanks

in normal low rpm driving (like highway with these cars that rev so low), the temperature at the sender in the bottom of the tank is probably about 10f lower than whats actually flowing onto the bearings. I suspect its the inverse on track, at high rpm where the oil is circulating much faster, and may actually be a bit higher than what the reading at the tank is. But just guessing...

My Improved Racing oil thermostat kit does have a 1/8" NPT fitting in it where you could theoretically extend and relocate the sender to. Or, perhaps find a compatible 1/8" NPT sender to extend and patch the OE connector into. Just a thought.

thanks, that makes sense.
Maybe I'll just add a stand alone oil temp somewhere on the block.
I'll update as soon as I get to it. I'm in Synthetic Oil sales and am studying best operating oil temp ranges.
