Car went 11.87@122mph on street tires with a 1.900 60
I purchased 17 z06 wheels. Two closest tracks are 1.5 hr away and interstate to the track. I will
Have gto spares on m and h tires but they will go on at the track. I plan to drive the DRs on the car. Also at what point do I need to be concerned about half shafts. I would think the clutch will prevent me from launching hard enough for half shaft failure
If your DRs are Hoosiers, you'll wear them out quickly on several ~200 mile round trips. If you pull the passenger seat, you'll have room for all 4 and you made the car 51# lighter in the process.
I have talked with several tuners. They said basically the same tires Hoosiers or nitto nt05. I am not sure how much you are wanting to spend. You can get a set of stock front rims and get them widen 2.5" for a 11" wide rim on a coupe. This will give you an 18" rim for the rear for a little more sidewall to cushion the launch some with added traction.
275/40? Looking forward to your future track results! It's possible to break parts with even the LS7 clutch as I've seen it done before, try not to dead hook and slip the clutch as much as possible without overheating it...of course if it starts to wheel hop get out of it immediately, good luck!

The latter is the better option imo for a manual and I've tried many different DRs ie Toyo, BFG, M/T, and Hoosier, but it requires the use of skinnies up front otherwise at low psi it will sway on the bigend.

i had a very hard time staying tn the groove wandering side to side with the runflats up front, yet drs & skinnies up front bias or radial nice and straight
I'm in the same boat. Over an hour to the track, want a DR I can drive there on.
I like the MT Street radials. Dont think the Toyo TQ will hook me but they are cheap. Skeptical of the NT05R at my power level also(610 rwhp, 560rwtq).
Debating the 295/45/17 Street Radial II. The extra height should keep me from shifting into 4th in the quarter.

Did you have a swaying issue with DRs in the back and runflats up front, or with the bias ply's on the back and runflats up front?
I just found MT just released a radial for the 17. 26inch tall for a 4-5incj wheel. Hmm debate to the heavier radial or m and h bias ply for front runners

Yes with the runflats up front and drs in back, once i got skinnies i tried radial skinnies and bias skinnies up front with drs in back no sway straight as an arrow

M&H also has the same size in a radial, which is also heavier than the bias ply. The point of running skinnies is for the weight reduction, so the logic points to the bias ply tires.
I have to laugh at those who run GTO spare wheels with radials and then add spacers to make them fit, because they refuse to change from their large heavy brake package to the base brakes.

some people wont listen to the voice of experience or common sense, but i bet their is a scientific reason behind the reasoning
