Do you have a grand sport or Z06? If so, I don't think the skipping is a result of the tire itself but how wide the tires are. I notice in my GS they do that skipping thing when I reversing/turning slows out of my driveway. It is worse when it is super cold. Just something you have to deal with when running wide tires.
I guess what I am saying is, getting new tires may not resolve the "tire chatter"

Your description is accurate. Unfortunately I already replaced the tires and the newer tires and cold weather compounded the problem the problem.
the shape of the tread blocks has alot to do with it. the wider the tire, the more you notice it.
you will have different options of tires depending on whether you have a thin or a wide body car.
Actually, the GY Supercars are pretty good tires. I know they have received a lot of knocks here but I've used them during hpde events and once warmed up have had no issues with them. They make noise during slow maneuvering and extreme steering changes but that's normal. I also like the quick steering response and yes, you have to pay attention while driving because the tires have a tendency to follow the lines/ruts in the road. Also normal and these are high end sports cars where you have to pay attention. Noisy? Yep. About on par with the Michelin Pilot Sports SP2's. Just turn up the stereo!
I have a 07 base and with the GY super car tires my car would skip like crazy. Replaced those tires with RE11 Bridgestones and the car never skips when making slow tight turns and the overall grip is significantly better when accelerating. You're tires are wider but a stickier compound will probably minimize skipping.
After replacing the tires I also had our local Corvette shop perform an alignment using Pfadt perfect street specs. The car trackers perfectly now and doesn't tram etc...
Alignment and tires really made for a much better handling car.
