Default tuning for Gears?

ok just hoping to gain a little clarification on this. Do you need to tune you're tranny computer for gear changes? Or will the shift points be relearned to the new gears?
Back ground: 05 Corvette, auto. Nitrous, cam, Vararam, 3500 stall and 3.73 gears.
When I first put in the TC had my tuner who tuned for the cam, and adjust the stall in the computer. Then I did the gear swap later in time. Spoke with the tuner and he stated there in no tuning requirement for changing gears.
well when driving the car if I gave it a decent amount of gas or floored it, the tranny wouldn't shift the car would hit the redline and bounce off the rev limiter. I would have to let completely off the gas and as the rpms started to cost off the tranny would bang into the next gear. I could again give it gas but as before it would completely skip over the shift point and bounce of rev limiter. I never had this issue b4 the gear swap. I recently went thru a complete tranny rebuild, found an interesting mess of the previous owners attempts to install a shift kit and rip out springs etc.
So Tuner is telling me that the condition of the stock tranny is the only thing causing the issue I had in the past. Now with the fresh HD built tranny and new 06+ converted diff with 3.73s will I need to tune for this gear set up or with the car indeed learn the gears? Thanks in advance for any input.

I think you need a new tuner. The gear change should be input into the tune and it will adjust shift points and mph readings.

thanks thats what i was thinking. I called RPM, whom i purchased the diff conversion from shortly after posting, and they told me the same thing. also would like any input from people who have done similar swap. Currently my Vett is in my Home of Record state (FL) and I recently got stationed in TN. So I'm thinking of having the car shipped here to TN, with shipping being pretty pricey i will have to hold off on paying for the new tune, can i still drive the care moderately until i tune it or am i risking damaging any thing?

It shouldn't damage anything as long as you don't push it and hit the limiter. In normal driving your shift points will just be off a little. You don't need a full tune. They shouldn't charge much to just make that change. It takes a minute.

yes you need a tune as far as shift points vs extensions from the converter and your cam and power band from the dyno but you dont need to tune for a gear change, i find the temp changes the shift point hitting the rev limiter for every 10 degree drop in outside temp, my first pass always does it, unless i jump on it on the way to the track, and if i sit to really cool off the car it will do it on the first pass if a big drop in outside temp unless i hot lap it and keep making passes so there is no big temp drop from the last pass with the 4l65
