Hi, trying to find an exhaust system for my 2005 A4 auto, working with a local manufacturer in the UK but so far we can get a great tone but cant seem to get rid of droning at lower revs typically around 1500 which is exactly where the A4 box operates on normal non motorway roads.
I see on the Corsa site they recommend extra boxes at the front of the system for the 2005 A4 set up, they call it the touring system. So question:- does the A4 auto need to be different from the A6 and manual options? obviously the 6 speed boxes will have different rev bands to the 4 speed, but is there a way of eliminating the drone/resonance using single rear straight through boxes or do we need to look at introducing a pair of front boxes as well.
No doubt plenty of different opinions here but any constructive ideas appreciated.
I have Corsa Sport axle back exhaust on my 2005 A4 automatic. I do not have the front boxes you speak of. The exhaust does not drone at cruise speeds. It does drone a little at idle. I am pleased with the sound these mufflers make. This system is quite expensive here in the USA. Good luck in your quest.
I had the corsa sport. It did have a little drone at highway speeds but not bad at all. the overall sound was nice and throaty. I'd start there and if that has too much drone for you get the other pieces that make it the touring addition.
