Has anyone experienced problems with yank converters eating up the front pump bushings. This will be the second time in the last 6 months that this is happening. The first one left grind marks on the snout and we measured the snout and it was a few thousands too big. So I called yank and he said that was not possible. Well after paying to rebuild the tranny and polishing the snout. Its 6 months later and im starting to see tranny oil on the ground. Got in in the air and sent it through the gears and no oil. But when its sits after a trip or just a regular drive down the street. I will see an tranny oil spot. So now its time to pay again for someone to pull the converter and tranny and replace . Either the seal or the trans bushing . This is starting to get expensive. IF you have some ideas let me know.....

Call them again and ask for the tolerance plus and minus numbers, could be a flex plate crack or flexing bent mounting locations

If the flex plate and etc....... check out ok; the problem may be installing the converter on the trans and letting it sit for a very long time. Unsupported the converter can damage the seal & possibly the bushing. Good luck
When tranny and converter arrived both were not together , i helped mechanic put contverter on tranny and installed it. So thats one idea that didnt happen. Its boils down to the snout being 3 thousand bigger than the snout of the other converter that never leaked. Waiting on yank to get back to me. will let you guys know what dave said..........
To my suprise Dave from yank converters called me on saturday. I cant believe he took time out on a saturday to contact me. He was very helpful in wanting to help check out his converter . Ask me to send it back and he would check to see if something was wrong and take care of it and ship it back to me. Cant say enough good things about Dave . Love his converter and his customer care
Jacked up vette to check tranny oil. Because temp was getting really high and car was shifting funny. Well after putting 3 quarts of fluid into it and testing it through the gears. I could not get it to leak fluid out . This is crazy, my drive way has several tranny oil spots , that my wife wants to kill me for. So i jacked it down and took it on the highway , got it back home after 5 miles of testing and no leaking tranny fluid. Now im at a loss, If it was the seal it should have leaked out right away, if it was the converter it should have leaked. So now i have no idea what the hell is going on...........IDEAS PLEASE

Apparently it leaked out over a short period of time. So I put 3 quarts in it and ran it no leak....saw nothing comeing out the seal, nor any where else so im at a lost

maybe you got to jump on it to get it to leak again
Another oil leak mystery. It could be that when you installed the converter some of the oil in it (you put oil in it correct?) leaked out onto the front pump and that slowly trickled down and eventually seeped out the bellhousing and dripped onto the driveway?? Or maybe you have a wicked neighbor that throws a few drops of ATF under your car just to mess with you???
Well i wish it was neighbor doing that, but its not. Over the past few months ive been paying close attention to this situtation. And its definetly trans fluid, sometimes the back of my car is full of trans fluid. and on certian occasions you can find a trail up my drive way. This all started after we jacked the front end up in the air to change the camshaft. We had to remove the trans cooler lines so we did lose some fluid thier. Then a few days later i started noticeing tranny fluid under the car. Just a small spot but that spot became more and more. Really dont know what is going on . I only can watch it to see what will happen next...............

Did you just blindly add three quarts to it or did you check first to see that it was low? Did you check the fluid level again after adding the extra fluid?

Put the car up again and look for a pattern of dirt. Anything that needs tightening can leak from the filler plug, trans lines & etc.
Dennis also brought up a good point converters can cause problems with the front seal after being flashed/ power braked.
Who in thier right mind would just blindly put trans oil in a transmission with out first checking to see if it was low.........Of course i checked first in fact a dummy could see it was full when it started to flow out of the fill plug. Ive checked the trans cooler lines also no leak. Last night i added some uv dye to the tranny and will just have to wait to see if that can lead me as to what is going on. Thanks for all the ideas guys , but ive never seen anything like this and ive been tinkering with cars most of my life..... Either it leaks or it dosent. I know it was leaking i saw the puddles of tranny fluid, i checked the tranny and found it to be low by at least 3 quarts. I experienced it not shifting properly and temps riseing to 200 . So im not dreaming ive got a driveway with a trail of tranny fluid to prove it........LOL

I'd like to know the specific method you used to check the fluid level that allowed you to determine it was at least 3 quarts low. I've never been able to do that, but I'd like to learn.
