I have a loud ticking noise coming from near the injector closest to the fire wall on the driver side. It doesn't do it all the time. It started fri. noticed it while idling at traffic light. After that I notice it after it has been sitting a while. Could it be the cold, lifters, injectors, or worse? Thanks for any and all help.
when did it start? Has the car had any work done ?
1st check your plug wires, they can fall off.
put a screw driver up to the valve covers and listen to see which side is making noise. You could have a bad lifter or rocker arm. If it is a lifter you are going to have the pull the head or both of them.

good luck.
Thanks Truckplay,
I checked the plug wires and preformed the ole screw driver trick. The noise seems to be coming from above the injector nearest the firewall between the injector and intake on the driver side. I was thinking but hoping it wasnt a lifter or rocker arm. Do you or anyone else have an idea of the cost to replace/ repair a bad lifter? Thanks
I've been dealing with a noisy lifter lately on cold starts. The noise usually goes away shortly. And it doesn't happen every time. There's a chance it could just go away. Possibly an oil change, or warmer weather (sometimes my oil temp is 32 in the morn) will cure it. Good luck with your LS motor.

Thanks Al,
Yeah Im thinking cold weather has a lot to do with it. The dealer is telling me they would have to take the motor apart to find the problem and they were unsure of what they were looking for, or just go ahead with a new engine for 8K. So for now they did a service and sent my car home. I will keep an ear open for the ticking, while I raise the 8K, just in case.
