Anyone have any knowledge about ebay headers like the catted obx? I see them for about $750-$800. I wanted the SLP headers although seems that no dealers can get there hands on them so if you anyone has used these obx ebay ones please tell me how they are. Performance, fitment, etc.

I just installed a set of OBX catless headers on my 2008 base. The flanges and primaries fit perfectly and look great, but the fitment under the car left something to be desired. I was using hand tools and jack stands, so with only a foot of clearance it was hard to get things lined up and bolted together. Maybe that's common with all headers for this car. I did not have much luck with the band clamps. An experienced shop may be able to install these headers with fewer issues. I would suggest getting everything welded up between the primary connections and the muffler connections, as I did.
With the 1.75" OBX headers, I ran an 11.5@124.3 mph (1.9 60 ft). That's the second highest trap speed I've seen for an M6 bolt on car. So I don't think I am leaving anything substantial on the table in terms of gains from headers.

do a search as there are quite a few ppl running these headers. also do a search on some of the other more expensive headers to read about some of the install issues other may have had. not many aftermarket parts for like oem so there will be some fitting issues.
good luck
Be careful. lots of folks have problems with them. Some do not. If you can get a warranty with them and that is all you can afford, you may want to take a chance. There are other options out there that may cost a little more but you are less likely to have issues, and there is also used from the parts for sale section.

Thanks for the response. From what I hear all headers are a pain to install on the c6 if you aren't using a lift. Although glad to hear fitment was good once you got them in there. Do you know any numbers as far as horsepower gains? Also how's the quality of the headers? Do they seem pretty durable?
I bought a set for my Honda ~5 years ago. After 6 months the collector cracked and fell off on the highway. From that point I would never touch OBX or cheap china headers again. Not worth the pain to save $200-300.

With name brand headers in the $1500+ range, you are saving a heck of a lot more than $200-300!
As others posted.. use the search.. you'll be able to make an informed decision then.
I'm selling a set of $1700+ header for $1100 with barely any miles. I would take a used set of name brand headers over new OBX any day of the week for a little bit extra. Even if I couldn't find a used set (which aren't hard to find) I would still pay the $1500.
i had obx on my 2010 ss camaro and i tell u this they did good. performed well. put me top 5 in the stick shift ls3 n/a list. 15th n/a all together. i paid like 500 for them used them for 2 years sold them within 2 days of listing them for 350+ shipping. i would have got them for my vette but a friend got me some lg/borla headers for about nothing
I think the paranoia is a bit irrational. The headers I bought are good quality pieces. I wouldn't act on the opinion of anyone who hasn't actually tried them. Quality may have improved over years past. I paid $650 for mine (new, but second hand from someone who thought he needed 1.875" headers instead). No, I haven't dynoed with them, but again I trapped 124 mph with them (second highest for an M6 on the bolt-on list - and full weight, street tune). They seem to at least make the power others have been making with headers. They are supposedly a copy of another popular manufacturer's design (forget which one).
I don't think price is always a direct proxy for quality. Sometimes it's just a proxy for profit margin, prestige, or high domestic wages. Sure, other headers have better fit and finish in places, but I wouldn't think you're getting $1000 of functional quality improvement with other brands. My .02. The peace of mind of absolutely no compromise is worth the money to many. I'm not worried about that (any street car is a compromise).

the stainless OBX catted headers I have on my car are a quality part. nice welds and perfect fit at a down to earth price. I paid $750. for them new. with the money I saved buying them I purchased a new ported Fast 102 and picked up 65 rwhp with this combo in an auto car. so at a cost of less than what others are charging for headers alone I doubled the amount of hp I made versus headers only.
I appreciate all the input after research and all the opinions of people who have used them before, I will be putting the OBX headers on. Makes no sense to spend double the money with no solid reason. Appreciate the help!

Dusting this thread off. Did you get a set and have them installed yet? Just about to order a set as well and was following your thread. $1700+ for headers just seems unreal if $750 headers are in the ball park, power and fitment wise. Both stainless steel as well.

Yes, the FAST 102 intake manifold is a great mod, especially for the LS2.
They are knock offs of better headers. Like any knock off, there is a compromise in quality, fit and finish in order to save money. Some people get sets that work, and run around telling everyone like they won the lotto. Most people who have problems suffer in silence because they know everyone will tell them you get what you pay for.
