Default Shift to park

I have a 2005 that is saying shift to park. It is in park and I undid the battery to see if it would reset. It now won't crank and has the theft deterrent showing. Nothing works to get that to go away. I have tried to unlock with the fob and that doesn't do anything either. Is this because the car doesn't think it is in park? Is there another tip I can do or am I gonna have to have it towed to the dealer to fix both issues?

I've never had that in my vette, but i have had that problem in my explorer. It was the shift handle that needed replacing. Try playing around with the shifter and handle itself, maybe you can get it working long enough to get it to the dealer instead of towing. (Pull the trigger on the handle too)
