Battery dead

Went to start my 08 C6 and got the ole click click. Car wouldn't crank over. Time for a new battery. Any recommendations? What's a good battery these days for our vettes?

I have always had good luck with Delco's....even in my boats with the "voyager deep cycle". I'm still on the OEM @ 7 years 3 months. Replaced my OEM 2003 Avalanche battery in May of 08 with a Delco and it's still going strong. I'm just waiting to see how long they last before replacing them - which could be anytime now. Guys will swear on all other brands and types but I've always put my money on Delco's. They always in the past got excellent ratings in tests FWIW.

Optima RED top. My first one lasted 5 1/2 years. It was still going strong I just wanted to replace it before I had a problem. I have another RED top now.

Go with the Delco Pro Series, 84 month, was about $105 the last time I bought one a couple of years back.

Keep in mind that a C6 sitting for about 3 weeks will drain the battery all by itself.

So if you are going to let the car sit for that long, a battery tender is in your future as well.

Also worth mentioning, I've heard to leave a 6MT car in reverse when it's parked or the battery will drain. I did personally verify this the hard way. Not sure if that contributed to your issue, but thought I'd chime in just in case.

I had some paint work done last year. When I picked it up the battery was dead, and the car was left in 1st. Probably just a coincidence. Either way, better safe then sorry.
