I actually change my entire system, because of the additional CATS. I had a earlier thread which I'll post the link here. Where I was wiping white residue from the claps. Once pulled apart the pipe going to the aft CAT had white residue in the bottom of the pipe. Then further back where it goes over the axle white residue again. My thought CATS do deteriorate over time. But with a addition one holding them up from exiting. Plus I only had a few thousands mile. http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c6-z...onnection.html
I'm guessing you have the same mid "cats" as on my 2012 GS. The front cats are on the end of the headers, yes? - Anyway, I cut the mid cats and had a short piece of straight pipe welded in. Added a bit to the volume of my exhaust, no complaints. Because they don't mess w/ sensor readings you don't have to worry about any CEL's or reading issues.
In this case, IT IS . I replaced the catted X-pipe on my '12 GS with an OEM '11 GS one, and it bolted perfectly. Total cost was $110 delivered, sold by a forum vendor named 'JJFormato' (Jeremy Formato). I wanted an OEM job, so did this rather than a hack job any DMV with emissions testing would fail due to obvious modification. Your call. Pic attached so you know what you're looking at . Good luck, and hope this helps.
I bought a new Borla (60533) X-pipe "off road use only" it bolted right up, I ditched the extra cats and weight. A nicer burble on decal and maybe a tad louder with full throttle (NPP). Hard to say if those cats are sapping any power.
Anyway, did the x-pipe and tunnel plate in less then 2 hours.
Lost some weight and stiffened up the chassis a bit.
