Bill, Did you reset your gas mileage. I just learned this the other day from this forum. Mine was saying 18 mpg and when I reset it and went 33 miles it was averaging 25 + for some stop and go with highway miles. I was going to thank the forum for the info but read your thread. Thanks forum guys.
Frank:
I did reset the measurement and my millage did increase I was under the impression you leave it alone and it will read out the truth. Thanks for the tip.
[QUOTE=CMY SIX;1586562502]it would increase even further if you do the math, my 06 mn6 LS2 26-27 mpg I get about 21 all around town/hwy[/QUOTE
I have done the math on several occasions to confirm my gauge and have discovered either way my millage is low. Since I have a handle on this now. I shall keep track and see if the 2 reading finely come close.
If I set at a trafic light for a minute I lose almost 1 mpg .If you have to stop for a stop light your milage will drop like a stone. If you keep the car between 45 and 65 miles per hour mine seems to get its best milage.18.5 city 45mph to 35mph and 26 on a 40 min run,no heavy peddle
I would use an injector cleaner about every 5 th tank of fuel.

I will do both and compare the final results and report back to you in the next few days and let you know what the difference between the two calculations are.
let me guess? your too lazy to do the math with paper and pencil milage divided gallons and your going by the DIC, right?
I've done the pincil & paper (Math) a few times on a 5000 mile round trip to the West, then checked what it read in the DIC and the DIC was right on...At least one thing works right..

Thank you for the info. One day we will compare notes pertaining to electrical issues or little things that will drive you crazy. It's an awesome car I just think after all these years GM could of made this car a little less annoying?

I just traded my 2003 Corvette for a 2013 Corvette with a 6 speed manual. On the drive back from the dealership (about 80 miles) all highway, I got 31 mpg. I really took it easy though.
To all my friends-
Owners manual indicates I should be getting 18 to 27 miles per gallon. I have been getting 20.7 with no led footing. I recently did a round trip to Phoenix almost 900 miles and still getting 20.7.
What kind of miles per gallon are you experiencing?
Bill
Thanks you
After reading everyone's comments I have re-addresses the MPG issue and corrected the way I use MPG readout. By resetting it with every fill-up I'm now getting 21.5 in the city and around 26 in the city.

It is pretty simple. If you don't reset it the total miles used for the calculation isn't reset. You may notice just after you reset the mileage it is low and then starts to climb along with the distance remaining. It all depends on what you want to do with the readings. If you don't reset you get an average over a lot of miles. The longer you average the more accurate the overall reading is. If you want to know your average mpgs over a year's time just reset the gauge one time per year. The longer you let the average build up the longer it takes to change it or it takes a huge difference change in mpg to get it to change. One thing you can do to boost your in town average is to get into 5th gear as soon as possible. I usually try to be in 5th once the car hits 34 to 35 miles per hour. Once I drop to 4th I leave it in 4th until the speed drops down to 15. As long as the tach doesn't drop below 900 rpm in any gear you will be fine.

Thank You-
You are correct with everything written. My 2005 is an automatic and have no way to stay in any particular gear to nurse a few extra MPG's.
Before I learned how to use it my MPG it was around 17 or so and would go up or down very little. This measurement is for a period of 6 months or so, during this time no heavy footing was involved. I was interested in finding out what my MPG was per tank. I would do the hand calculations and these numbers were always more the the Vett's reading. This is where the confusion came from and when I compared my Vett's reading with the owners manual... Reading just didn't add up.
LS7. Flat, cruising at 75 ish I can get an indicated 29-31. I commute with the car every day and get around 20 or so in mix of hilly freeway and lotsof stop and go and idling at lights. Not too bad when compared to the CTS-V that I had (about 16 at best). I pretty much cut my fuel bill by 40% with the C6Z.
