I have never experienced wheel hop since the coilovers went on.....and it tends to break loose alot....lol
Most of the destructive wheel hop occurs at the drag strip with drag radials and a prepped track. I don't get much traction on the street anymore. C U IN REARVIEW, it's good to see another firefighter in an 05 such as myself.

For sure, love my 05.....what is your current set up (justasheet)? Hp/tq? F/I or n/a?
I havent had a wheel hop issue yet and i do drive it like i stole it, maybe itll start once more power goes in
I hope it doesn't. The diff usually takes the transmission out with it when it goes. Some people never have a problem, some do. I like to go to the track so I considered it preventative maintenance.
The best single mod for you is probably a set of 4:10 gears. It won't add any HP but you will think it did and you can fix the diff while you're in there too. Same labor (almost).
A ported fast 102, custom cam and a good set of heads will get you to 500whp
...and possibly a broken diff. I may just be paranoid but I started my build from the weakest link and moved forward with my end goal in mind. Lots of good info and opinions shared on this forum. Good luck to the OP with his build.

I had bought an anti wheel hop kit (bigger axles) for my GTO and they worked awesome especially at the track.......is there anything like that for the vette??
I have no knowledge of such a thing. Stronger axels I have but how thet would prevent wheel hop is beyond me. Sorry.
If nobody responds to your question, it is probably because they don't know either. Maybe you could look into this and let us know?
Jeff
Well if its anything like my GTO was, they would be replacing the stock axles with stronger ones. The GTO kit was a really fat axle on the left side with a thinner axle on the right. Apparantly the wheel hop starts from the left side and makes its way over to the right. Very strong kit from Gforce 1320 was about $600. Ive found a kit for the corvette with stronger axles and pricing is $1300-$2000+ but does anybody have anything like this??????

I'm not sure. I've heard of replacing our 05 axles with C5 Z06 axles which are supposed to be stronger but that was to prevent the axle from breaking and not as a cure for wheel hop. Maybe it helps? I have no knowledge on this. Someone else needs to chime in. As I mentioned earlier to you, send Stanger383 a PM. He can answer this for you.

The reason one is bigger than the other is to stop harmonics that will help reduce wheel hop. Gordon Rojewski has the patent on it.
I had a 2001 Camaro SS that had some wheels hop. Swapped out the rear shocks for adjustable drag shocks and wheel hope was nonexistent. Not sure if its that "easy" on a vette with independent rear.
in 05 the drivers side axle was really small in diameter, I broke one at the spindle the dealer replaced with a much fatter one, but was still the same diameter were it broke in the spindle damaging the spindle and bearing, non run flats help prevent wheel hop, also bigger side wall tires like 17" 16" 15" and better shocks, dual adjustable. just very slight wheel hop breaks the case, like a little dew in the air, tap the throttle with run flats that quick kaboom, no wheel hop it will live a long time

Sorry I didn't throw your name out there too as a resident expert as well as Norm's. I think he's too busy with the new ride.
Thanks for weighing in Dennis.
