I don't know if it's me or not, maybe others can chime in here be it people who have done business with tuners or tuners themselves could tell me what's up.
To me it's hard to believe a Tuner can't tune a car with catalytic converter
that has a Katech 116 cam in it , when a new zr1 or the new c7 z06 with over 600hp is smog legal with cats. So why is it my tuner a is telling me I'll have DTC's if I have him enable my O2 sensors to allow my z06 to run with the cats, is it me or is he being lazy with the tuning?
Input would be very appreciated good or bad please
Thank You

Katech 116 cam with new springs
and Magnaflow cat back exhaust.

stock headers and midpipe? it's not unusual for tuners to disable the rear o2 sensors so they don't throw a code when running a hiflo or catless exhaust.

Shawn, Thanks but I need to work this out .
Yes, it has stock headers and mid pipe. I'm in the great CA state with emissions

The only problem I've seen is some aftermarket cats(high flow) will trip the secondary sensor. The secondary basically tells you if the cat is working. With no cat it will think the cat is not working(because you don't have one). I have seen high flows occasionally throw a code for the secondary just because they don't "filter" out the CO like it should. However your tuner can turn off the code so it doesn't show up. Your primary O2 is your fueling sensor. Your secondary has little to no effect on fueling.

I've been using efi live on duramax diesel trucks for years, just never had experience with gas engines . Diesels don't have O2 sensors . nor did my duramax come with a cat from the factory. so this is new to me . But going through the efilive file i see everything that's been disabled . it's just interesting how they can't have everything running like stock when all it is a cam that's in the motor. it's not like i have a turbo or supercharger pushing 700+ hp i think the stock cats should be enabled right? maybe i'm wrong i value input knowledge is power

they can if you go back to the stock cam.
most of the time the valve events that aftermarket cams bring into the equation are not inline with some of the stock parameters that need to be adhered to in order to meet the emissions standards.

true true i was talkign to another person , they said that cam could have everything running , since the duration is the same as stock. I'm sure i'll be getting a lot of mixed matched answer FYI that Quagmire image is funny OHHH RIGGHT

yep...if you could speak with a cam grinder you will find the answers to your questions and eliminate the guesses.
