Default LS3 550rwhp+ H/C packages?

I know a lot of people have broken the 500rwhp stock displacement with decent sized cams.

Are any shops putting out packages breaking 550rwhp with aftermarket heads/cam?

Just checking my options before I end up going the supercharger route

Seems to me the OP is looking at the NA option before going SC.

No?

I can't find very many LS3 heads/cam setups on this forum or camaro5

My C6 isn't a drag car however I was interested in being able to knock off a high 10 at a 130+ mph trap on drag radials while driving it to and from the track....I come from doing more with less in the past I had a 11sec bolt on LS1 car and a high 10/low 11sec cam only LS1 car.

This should be possible with around 550-600rwhp.

My original plan was just do a ECS 1500 blower/meth setup on 8-9psi.

Like I said I couldn't find a lot of decent results from after market head and ported intake combos so I posted up here asking if anyone is familiar with them and instead get worthless replies lol....We dynoed/tuned a LS3 car with ported stock casting, FAST intake, and a decent size cam last week that made 530ish rwhp.

I was hopeful with aftermarket casting and a small bump in compression 550+ would be achievable I just haven't found many people going that route.

I'm sure if I asked what kind of wax to use I would have received 100+ responses

If you are looking for a high 10 second car, you do not need that much rwhp. Here is an LS3 build that made 483 rwhp on a Mustang Dyno through 4.10s. Add back in the 3.42s and you would be well into the 500s on a Dynojet.

These were both 10.41s back to back. (The 10.37 is earlier in the vid but you cannot see how well the car idles as in these clips.)
This car has Mast Heads and a blower cam. It drives extremely well on the street. You can add a blower if you so choose to at a later date.

I realize you can do it with less power...

If im going to put together a combo that makes it happen I don't want to only work on days with a tail wind or a negative DA.

550rw NA vs on a supercharger are two ends of the spectrum when driven on the street. How much driveability are you willing to give up?

I think you just keep erroneously assuming that you need more power than you really do to run deep into the 10s at 130+. This is surprising considering your statement that you had a high 10/low 11 cam only LS1 car. Of course you know that NA cars run quicker and faster than forced induction cars of the same RWHP.

You are confusing. You may find a few setups that can give you 550 rwhp NA on stock displacement, but you don't need that for your goals at all. We are talking consistently, year round, in the 10s...and probably mid 10s in good weather. Monovision with the RWHP goal.

This really isn't confusing

It's also not very complicated

I was looking if there were repeatable H/C setups that produced 550rwhp

I also realize I could probably get a small cammed LS3 car into the 10s in the upper 120s with a proper tire/gear depending on DA etc.

I don't need a giant debate about why im attempting to go this route I was just looking for more information on shops they may have produced configurations similar to what im asking about I know LG Motorsports has.

You shared all of your reasoning as to why you are looking for 550 + rwhp, so discussing that was fair game. You also implied the concern that a H&C setup would only get you into the 10s on days with tail wind and negative DA. Way off base.

That list is fabulously incomplete and definitely includes some entries that you should completely disregard. But even so, if you look at the 5 setups on that list with H&C, you see the slowest entry is a 10.68. The M6s went 131-133. And the video Gary posted shows an M6 doing 10.41 @ 134.

OK, so you don't want to talk about any goals except a dyno number. But it's obvious you can get deep into the 10s at 130+ with a serious H&C setup and a good driver. Not sure what the problem is. A 530 rwhp NA LS3 will run like a 600 rwhp blown LS3. If you want consistent trap speeds of 135+, I think you need a stroker or a 650 rwhp+ blown setup.

No take the ls2 or ls3 bolt/ons list, I COULD RUN 10S IN ANY WEATHER with bolt on/s 10.62 126.98 with just a little over 400rwhp the ls3 has done 10s also with 488 I ran 10.16 green track crappy DA ingredients, I was joking about dyno racing, my car isnt a drag car but it will drive coast to coast and still run 10s all day any day, bumper to bumper traffic going threw the Lincoln tunnel to Manhattan an 1.5 - 2 hours away.

Size: 43.1 KB, you don't need 500 rwhp with the right setup, TTP has done a great job with that LS3 car that Gary is talking about very well street manors as all northeast tuned cars

the reason you're getting worthless replies is that 550hp is not needed to go high 10s and you never bothered to fill out a profile so no one knows what part of the county you live in to be able to direct you to any shop that might be able to do the work you feel is necessary ive managed to run high 10s in 2000 da with only boltons and the last dyno was 411hp but its prolly really closer to 450 cause it was hot on the dyno that day and i don't trust dyno numbers to know what happens on the track anyway timeslips beat dyno sheets every time there are 700 to 1000hp cars that cant even run 11s so who really cares how much hp you have if you cant use it kinda like writing without any punctuation capitalization or sentence structure like this one did.

(After re-reading my own post I had to make several corrections... Its early for me)

I just dont get why he is being bashed for asking a straight question? What do we care what he does with the power? Thats what he wants, that was the question... Yet there has been not one single answer to accomplishing his original goal of 550+RWHP...

What if we where to forget the goal of running 10's since that was not even his question. Lets assume that he wants a daily driver that makes 550+RWHP... just BECAUSE! Since that was in fact his question. Is their a heads/cam package to reach that goal? What mods would it take to get the LS3 to 550+RWHP?... And an LS2 swap does not count Dennis... LOL

From what some are suggesting, at that power level set up properly theoretically should run mid 10's on a bad day... So this should make him very happy since he said he was only looking for 550+RWHP and mentioned running 10's AFTER being questioned.

There are lots of cars that make 600+HP (General statement)... are you guys suggesting they only need 450RWHP and any more HP is useless and will not make them any quicker? I would not mind an NA car that makes 550+RWHP... Practical? NO... but nor is owning a sports car to begin with.

So the original question still remains...

The reason I even listed ET/MPH was a minimum target

Drive car to track on drag radials run X ET and trap X mph on a full street setup not slicks/skinnies, front sway bar attached, full weight, etc

If I can go faster and trap higher even better

I completely understand its possible to run 10s with less power

The car isn't a daily driver it comes out on weekends/track events/cruise nights

I have built and tuned large cammed(trex, ms4) LS1 F-bodies in the past I understand all the drive-ability dynamics involved with large cams.

However i'm unfamiliar with LS3 heads/cam setups and searching here, LS1tech, Camaro5 have yielded very few results because most people turn to FI or just go cam only.

If you see above I said minimum

I would be extremely happy to knock of low 10s at 135+ if its even possible but at this point nobody can even tell me if 550+ rwhp setups are possible everyone just wants to argue about why.

Give Cartek a call they have built a few LS3 cars, its possible to reach 550 NA

It was an answer to the 10s statement that you didn't need 550 rwhp, weather LS2 LS3, now to answer your question! yes 550 can be made and has been at a cost of higher compression and higher octane, meth injection pulled timing making a wash on the extra hp, the best route would be ECS

Take the current LS3 external mod list on this forum

They're not all trapping over 130

I don't need a giant debate about why im attempting to go this route I was just looking for more information on shops they may have produced configurations similar to what im asking about I know LG Motorsports has.

You will need a great deal of power under the curve besides making a high peak number.

in Manhattan fully loaded 1SB with navigation

, you don't need 500 rwhp with the right setup, TTP has done a great job with that LS3 car that Gary is talking about very well street manors as all northeast tuned cars
Thanks Dennis. Matt appreciates that.
BTW- Love the NYC pics. You are more of a man than I. I am afraid to bring mine in.

OP- Everyone here is just trying to help out. We thought if we knew your goal, we could better assist you. Many of those responding have cars that run extremely well and have the numbers to back it up. Tune Time Performance built the H/C LS3 that went 10.3s. The DA was slightly negative and only had minor weight reductions (Passenger seat removed, front sway bar removed, driver's seat was replaced with a mid weight seat not an all out race seat and a drag pack was used although not optimized) With that being said, this car has been 10.7s with only a drag pack and a DA of 2200'. Put on DRs and you will pick up 1 mph. Add the back heavy fronts and you will drop 1- 1 1/2 mph. This is all with a very streetable cam. The owner of that car is pushing 70 and has went high tens and daily drives his car. If you wish to trap 135+ in any weather run at full weight on DRs only, it can be done but it will take more than 550 rwhp. Tune Time Performance will build you that car. Matt, Mike T., Robz and I will be glad to put one together. (Matt owns TTP, Mike T. is one of the premiere engine builders and Robz is just a dentist.) If you want a motor that is already built to suit your needs and then some, Robz is selling his freshened up (388 CI) monster. He designed this destroked LS7 which made 633 rwhp on Matt's Mustang dyno. The motor will rev to 9,000 rpm but that will not be necessary. Here's a link if you are interested.

If you just want to upgrade your LS3 to 550 rwhp (Dynojet), give Matt a shout and we will come up with that combo.

With Robz working everyday with the 800,000 RPM Drill it was easy to come up with the design of the 9,000 RPM (388CI} Monster
