Default headers

searched the forum, but found no conclusive results, i have a chance at a used set of headers for my 08 base, they came off an 08 Z, will these ports match up the same? i see lots swithcing exhaust manifolds out from Z to Base, with not issues, am thinking this should not be an issue either.

They don't match, but can still work. Ls7 (z06) have D shaped ports, but they should still bolt on and work.

Isn't the Z06 cross pipe (and axle back) 3 inches???

Yes the xpipe will be full 3" so won't bolt to the mufflers, but that is super easy to fix/cut/weld, or just put a z06 muffler set/axle back on it.

thanks for the help.

The ports will match up fine with the D shaped LS3 heads. If the seller doesn't have the X or H pipe that match the headers, then just buy that part from the header manufacturer. That's the cheap part compared to the headers. If that part is available in a 2.5" outlet you're done. If it's only 3", then you can weld on a reducer near the back to match up with your over-the-axle pipes. Or you could use the 3" Z06 mufflers if you have a M6. They will fit on an A6 if you hammer a dent in the passenger side for clearance. The most power is using the 3" to 2.5" reducer and your current over-the-axle pipe welded into the Z06 muffler.

yes, been doing more research, and even Arh, says the best power is 3" collector into 2.5" x pipe and out the back. i may just go with them, a lad a hour from me as headers, X pipe and 02 extensions maybe my best option $1000. with 3600 km on em, no, no shipping, no duty, no nutting.
