Ok guys I've heard you can make your cam sound more choppy/lopey/ thumping by setting your idle to a lower rpm. I'm installing a 54-459-11 in my ls2 and from the videos I've been watching it's not a very lopey cam sound that I really like. So is the lower rpm thing a possibility?? Thanks.
and if he's not careful that lopey sounding vette won't be able to get outta its own way.
So whatever the cam sounds like is what it will sound like there's no way of making it more choppy or lopey by lowering the idle. Is that what your saying

not what I was saying at all. lowering the idle does indeed have an effect on the sound some cams make.
from your posts it sounds like you are more concerned with the "sound" of the cam and not the performance. not sure about the cam you have selected for your set up but a cam designer could spec you a cam for the lopey sound plus the performance.

Hey bud thanks for the reply. There's no doubt I'm looking for performance that's why I've invested so much money but I'm also looking for a nice chop with the can as well. I've already purchased the can as my shop said it will be choppy but after watching a few vids of the can its not the sound I'm looking for however that's whyim looking for some advice with the idle. Thanks again for your help and opinion.

hey no problem. even tho you have purchased the cam if its not "installed" you can still get what you want. don't settle cause you will regret it later.
good luck!

The build is going ahead in less than two weeks and I don't have enough time to get a new cam shipped up from the states. I think I'll be happy with the can for this year anyway. Next year I'll have to puts blower can in anyway once I install a tvs 2300. See how this goes first I guess. I'll post up a video and the dyno results once its all done. Thanks to everyone that has helped me out the past few months in deciding what parts and route to go with my build!!!!
