Fellas, I had my brother take my car in for an oil change, plugs and msd wires. For those that say an axle back will only improve sound, I beg to differ. Across the power band my A6, 08 coupe picked up about 8-10 hp/12tq. Peak gains were 5.9hp and 4.65tq.
The plugs weren't fouled when they were removed and in good condition. I swapped them because I bought the car used and had no idea of what had been installed. The wire was an upgrade from GM performance to MSDs. Oil change was Penzoil platinum to royal purple.
I cant get the pre borla dyno to post for some reason. Said it couldn't be resized.
When was the before dyno done? Was it the same day and the same dyno? If not then the results are flawed. But catbacks make for a more enjoyable driving experience regardless.

I've personally seen back to back dyno runs made minutes apart show the kind of so-called improvements you're claiming, so sorry to burst your bubble but you didn't pick up a thing.
If dyno's are so flawed why do we even use them? Seems like every major builder in the world has them and uses them to show results before and after builds.
did you have regular or npp mufflers before? I went to regular base mufflers from B&B and my car feels really sluggish, but it could be psychological since all I hear is intake noise now.

I did not say dynos are flawed, although they are. I said your dyno results could be flawed if they were not done on the same day/dyno. A dyno is a tool and any reputable shop will of course have one and utilize it as such.

You did not disclose that originally. That could account for some gains but without a verified before and after, who knows.

I hope the gains are accurate. A while ago I asked could anyone clarify why my car performs totally different from my friends car. Both were tuned by the same tuner, same day/conditions with the difference being grand sport vs coupe, lg streets vs super pros and npp vs stingers. I know the GS has slightly better gearing and that could be a factor, but he even recognized that for some reason my car felt much stronger than his and broke traction in places his didn't. IDK, ??? I guess I will have to wait til I get back from overseas to hit the track. He said he would not line up with me, because he already know the outcome in my favor.

Ditto, and have see that much difference between three runs with nothing touched, since the motor is self adjusting itself each run, and short of heat soak to retard timing, normal for the second and third run on a dyno to be more than the first run.
So unless you did say three base runs, then three runs after the muffler system was installed, your just looking faulty data.
Simply, your biggest problem is up stream, being the factory manifolds and Cats, and even if you straight pipe after the cats, your still going to have those restrictions/problems up stream. Truth is, if you changed out to long tube headers and High flow cats, left the stock muffler in play, then you looking at picking up 30hp or more since you are resolving the source of the problem.
