Default Corvette Base Headers X pipe size question

Hey everyone. I am new to the forum here. I got a C6 a couple of months ago and Im loving it! Its a 2007 Le mans blue Z51 M6. So Im working with Tony from Tony's Corvette shop here in MD to try and get a supercharger and exhaust setup for my car. I have decided to go with Andy's A&A supercharger and AR longtube headers. I would like to get the 3 inch x pipe and then 3 inch Borla ATAK axle back but I have seen on youtube some people say you need the catback with the x pipe. Do I need a cat back or axle back? Thanks so much!

Cristian

Hi Christian , Almost any header you order for the base LS2 is gonna be 3" diameter from the collector to the exhaust. At that point they neck down to 2.5" to fit your stock exhaust. If you want to run a 3" axleback you may want to consider an exhaust for the Z06. Tony should be able to help you with your decision. I got Melrose headers from him a few months ago

With our Super Pro series of headers they are a full 3" mid section all the way to the trans, at which point they will neck down to 2.5" to fit the base car muffler (axle back) systems.

Now since you have a manual car, if you go with our kit, just order it as you normally would but say you are going to run a Z06 axle back and at that point (along with buying the Z06 size axle back) you can have a true 3" dual exhaust on the car.

Even on my base 2006 car, I picked up some HP and torque by going to the 3" muffler system...with a supercharger it is going to help even more, but again it will require you to buy the Z06 muffler system (oem, borla, corsa...which ever).
