Default when to change plugs

Hey fellas- I have an 05 with 10500 miles and runs good. I dont know if the plugs, hoses, belt, or trans (manual) and diff. fluids have ever been changed. Do plugs wear only from use or is their age also a factor? I had coolant flushed/changed and clutch master, slave, seals and lines all changed out due to a problem caused by DAS.(they paid my claim). Oil and filters have all been done. Should I do the other fluids and plugs? Just want to keep it in good shape as I plan on keeping it as long as I can. Appreciate your help. Thx

There's another thread asking similar and advice is leave most of it. But my take is there's always help to longevity and reliability esp. with a car that could be an actual, full, ten years old, or close to it. (built sometime in mid-04 potential)

So, I'd add in changing brake fluid (some recommend every two years), differential (new fluid from GM has a new formula and does not require additive), and manual trans. I'd carefully inspect the wear side of the belt, and look at the underside and connecting parts of the hoses, but not necessarily replace them. (it's been said, however, that today's belts can not be seen to be breaking down) As for plugs, no, it's supposed to be 100K plugs and I'd doubt it needs to be changed. As an aside, I'd have the alignment checked. There are many instances of inside-tread wear due to improper or going out of alignment specs.

Belts and hoses fail simply due to age as much as mileage. 7 - 8 years is really the prudent limit on that stuff. So I would recommend changing all the belts and hoses. The only other thing is brake fluid, should be changed every 2 years. Coolant should be changed every 5 years.

You might prepare yourself for a water pump failure/leak any time. They can go 50,000 or 15,000. They really are a crap shoot with no rhyme or reason.

Plugs should go 100,000 miles. If it's running fine don't worry about them. If 9 years from now you only have 20,000 miles, then you might just want to go ahead and change them.

AO-Thx for the info. I will probably do as you advise, Will have to check on cost to see if I can get it all done at once. Car was built in August 2005. Still, its 9yrs old and the maintenance you suggest would give me a good starting point. All the wheels were aligned when the clutch fluid problem was fixed. I knew the plugs were good to 100K miles just wasn't sure if the age of the plugs mattered. Thx for the help
