Hello everyone,
I recently purchased a supercharged 08 Z06 from a fellow member and I put roughly 1500 miles on it and now I'm hearing a very awkward squealing noise coming from the back of the motor. This is not a belt issue, as I've already started the car with the belt and blower off. Oil pressure is at 48psi engine warm at idle. Heads were also redone by previous owner that includes new valves, springs, guides, and retainers. Any help would be greatly appreciated to confirm in fact the lifters are bad.
Issue was resolved, the culprit was a defective lifter.

If it sounds anything like this then it's definitely a bad and/or stuck lifter. This was from my LS7 a few years ago.
If you're pretty sure it's coming from the back of the engine then you might consider taking the intake and valley cover off as it's possible to actually see the lifters with everything removed.
What happened to me was the roller got chewed up which caused the little axle (not sure what's it's actually called) to pop out a bit which in turn trapped the lifter in the bore. I was very fortunate in that I caught it quickly so the cam lobe never got torn up and after installing a new lifter I went racing with it the following week.
Well looks like it's definitely a lifter. I'll be dropping it off next week to get fixed. Any suggestions on replacement lifters. Thank you everyone for your help.
I'd be hard pressed to put a set of stock lifters in any engine I build anymore.
My LS7 has had a lifter/ cam failure. Customers LS3 has had its lifters (stock then LS7 lifter fail) LS7 lifter failure is leading to a full engine rebuild.
Friend/Head machinist at a Hi perf machine shop has seen many stock LS lifter failures.Tech at local GM dealership has seen more LS lifter failures than he can shake a bump stick at.
Do a search here on C5-C6 forums for lifter failures
Best course of action would be to remove your intake and valley cover. Take a look down at the cam and lifters. You should be able to see all the lifter rollers and cam lobes

You can see a couple at the front and back, that's it.
