Default LS3 418 vs 427

Looking for more hp. I'm trying to figure out weather I should go power adder or displacement.

Stock LS3 out of a C6 should be safe with 8-9psi. Either a TVS2300, LYSHOLM, ProCharger D1...this should put me 550-600rwhp. Car is an Auto so that will have to be swapped to Circle D or Century 6L80E.

I'm trying to figure out what is better a power adder or a 427 stroker. I do know this particular stroker application does not like boost. So a power adder would be out of the option. This way I would look to build a most stout engine to give me 600rwhp+

418 makes a little less NA but is able to take boost if later on down the line I'm interested for more.

Power adder + 418ci = $12,000-&15,000 - - 750rwhp
427ci = $6,500 - - 650rwhp..????????

Does anyone have any experience with LS3 strokers particular high horsepower or 427ci..?

Thanks,

LS3 based 427s have a 4.1" stroke which brings the piston too far out of the cylinder at BDC. To compensate the wrist pin is moved up higher in the piston. They don't offer very good reliability, and they drink oil compared to a 416-418.

With a cam along side pump gas and meth, a factory LS3 will make north of 700whp with forced induction.

if you just want 600rwhp reliably just throw a blower kit on it and your good to go.

Ecs kit, longtubes, meth kit to keep you in piece of mind and happy and you have a nice reliable setup on your hands. The trans will be good for a while depending on tune.

Let me know if i can help you with the go fast goodies!!!

It's a street car, cruiser...I got spanked by some tool in a SLS...I kept up but he definitely took me. So don't waste the cash on the stroker...stock will do fine. I was thinking D1 or TVS2300...8-10psi...street/daily driver tune. I know trans won't hold it but before it blows up I'd rather sell it for some discount for replacement.

I would get a custom cam for a power, long tubes are on it now...kooks complete system. Maybe the FAST intake...with 8-9psi I should be in the 700rwhp...

I have a stock block with a novi 1500 making 780 rwhp. Been that way for 3000 miles and about 25 1/4 runs.

25 passes...that's 25 more than I'll make. Are you running street tires or drag?

Dont need a fast intake with boost. Save your money and get a meth kit.. procharger is on the expensive side of the blower kits. Go with ECS kit better kit for less money and still makes awesome power like shown in the post above.

ECS kit
Longtubes
Cam
Meth kit
you will have a nice reliable setup on your hands minus the trans depending on tune and your driving

I'd say 10 on drag and 15 on nitto invos. 9.43 on drag and 10.53 on invos. But I did blow my clutches on my last pass.

Forced induction 100%.

I like the A&A kit or if you are going to always run a sticky tire a Whipple.
