I bought a new shift **** today to replace the stock ****. I was told that I would pull the boot down and there would be a torx screw to remove to remove old shift ****. I pulled the boot down and there is no screw. Can somebody please guide me to directions on how to replace this? Thanks!
Just went thru this whole rig-a-ma-roll on my '13. Had a lot of good help from the members here. Make sure you get the chrome collar at the base of the shift **** off by turning it approx 90* CCW as you gently pull down on it. As most have found here, it should turn fairly easily.
For some reason, the collar and **** in my car had some imperfections in the channel that made it very difficult to turn (by hand) and I had to resort to using channel locks to turn the collar for the first time. Be sure you protect the plasti-chrome finish with a rag or such. If you have already pulled the faux leather boot material from the collar (as I did!!!) you'll have to take out the entire boot piece to re-attach the boot to the collar prior to putting on your new shift ****.
Believe me when I tell if I can do it without breaking twelve things, anyone can!!!
