The top of the block shows a mark but it dosen't look like a crack, it's way too wide at the surface and rounded very close to the surface.
What does the bore look like facing this surface mark?
You can use die penetrant to see if this actually is a crack, but it does not look like it from the photos.
Looks more like a cast block that did not clean up in machining.
Confirmed not a crack. It is from the casting process as some have stated. Got professional look over it. They pointed out something I completely overlooked; crack would have continue through the radius of bearing lip. It starts just below the radius on both sides of the bearing girdle.
Now, I have to keep the wife from finding out it is not an issue as I bought another block.
The crankshaft counter weights were hitting it. I just looked at the crankshaft PN and it has 12552116 in it. Looked that number and can't reference for it being production installed in the 06 LS2. Looks like a truck crank (LQ9), I am 2nd owner, I know previous owner had some mods done to car but never mentioned anything about the internals
