Default Cooling Ducts

I installed the cooling ducts for the Z06 front brakes onto my 08 LS3, they do not seem to line up properly. The flat piece it connects to I think it is called the Inner Wheel House, the one for the LS3 and the Z06 have different part #'s, are they interchangeable? Can I put the one for the Z06 onto my LS3? The one for the LS3 is $30 and the Z06 one is $72 at the cheapest price. From the picture I see no indication for GM doubling the price other than they can.

The front bumpers are different so the part is different and I do not believe that they interchange.

Would a little bit of duct tape seal up the difference or is it too far off?

you have to cut out the wheel house opening on the base car.
A Z06 close out panel is different and too big.

I put the cooling ducts on my car. There are no parts you can buy that can make them fit "bolt on". You'll have to do some fabrication. They will fit a Z 51 car. Russkier

You have to cut the hole in your inner fender down a bit to get the z06 duct to fit.

Here is my thread with pics from 8 years ago. Still going strong.

These are the best deal in town for you guys that track your cars! Thanks to user M_Minnick for the idea, more information in this post:

http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show...php?t=1514267:

The part#'s are:
15829066 - RH
15829067 - LH
The best part is the price - $5.60 each! What a bargain.

To install them:

1. Remove wheels.
2. Remove 9 push pins from front of wheel well and pull it back.
3. Remove factory duct that stops right inside of wheel well (very useless)
4. Trim bottom of the wheel well hole to get the Z06 duct to fit through and line up properly. As a guideline, I had to trim the bottom of the hole about 1/4" from one slot to the other slot where the original duct fit. It cuts like butter with a utility knife. Once you get the Z06 duct installed, but before you screw it to the frame, you can still trim the hole to get a nice fit.
5. Once you get the duct mounted how you like it, drill a small hole in the frame and install a self tapping bolt to hold it in place. Button up the wheel well and you're done! The front of the duct does not line up exactly perfectly with the duct under the bumper but it is really close and certainly close enough. If you are worried about it you could use a little duct tape to seal it up. I wasn't that worried about it.

Here's a pic of the finished product:

Now all I need to do is get some brake duct hose - I'll zip tie it to the active handling sensor mount like I did on my C5. That worked just fine. You can also get spindle mounts from DRM or LG I think but they are pricey.

Joe G I saw you Thread and it helped a lot . I have everythig installed and it works fine but....... the parts under the car look a little beat up and I'm thinking about replaceing them. I was wondering since I'm buying new pieces would it be better to buy the Z parts, if they would fit. I don't have the parts to look at and thought maybe someone here had done it.

The Z inner wheelhouses are different than the standard c6. The z has "gurney" lips on the front edge which help cool the brakes, but you cannot retrofit the Z inner wheelhouses to a C6 without some major surgery.

I tried. lol

So I just gave up, and put on the Z fenders! I love the way the car looks much better now.

First of all, thanks to Gene Culley for the great service on the kit!

Here is a great pdf in the first post with step by step.

http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c6-c...onversion.html

There is a gap to fill on the front fenders see pics and fix here. Gotta fill the gap or water and dust get up in the engine compartment.

Cutaway sheets and parts list.

I plan on posting up photos and tips we may learn as we do this. My buddy Mike Clark (Taaz024) is doing the wrench work, and his brother Darrel is doing the paint at his shop Pride Auto Body in Pompano Beach.

Looks odd sans fenders!

Anyone need some Lemans blue fenders and a nose?

EDIT JUST GOT IT BACK...I LOVE IT!! DARREL AND MIKE CLARK OF PRIDE AUTO BODY WENT ABOVE AND BEYOND TO MAKE THE CAR PERFECT. THESE PICTURES DON'T DO IT JUSTICE. I WILL GET SOME DAYLIGHT PICS AND POST THEM LATER. THESE PICS WERE AT TWILIGHT AS THEY WERE PUTTING A FINAL DETAIL ON THE CAR.

Here are a bunch of pics

http://s56.photobucket.com/albums/g1...%20Conversion/

A few posted below too.

Here are some before pics

And After

The new steamroller tires ride great, and traction is greatly improved.

The wide fenders make the car look SLAMMED. I love it.

Thanks again Darrel and Mike! Great job, you treated it like it was you own. I sure appreciate it.
